Goal: Endorse ban on fur imports and sales across the United Kingdom.
A long-standing, destructive affront against animal welfare could finally be on its way out permanently in the United Kingdom (UK). In recent years, the countries of Great Britain (England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland) have placed a ban on fur farming. If a new proposal goes through, the UK could soon add abolishment of fur sales to its quest for stronger animal protections.
While certain products (such as furs from domesticated pets or seals) are prohibited from being imported, most other fur sales are still legal. Since leaving the European Union, the United Kingdom now has the authority to reverse course. Fashion designers have already lent their support to the effort. The UK government is asking for public input on potential bans for an industry that counts lifelong confinement in tiny cages and death by electrocution and gas chambers among its many atrocities.

Dear Secretary Finkelstein,
Death by gas, electrocution, lethal injection, and possibly even being skinned alive: such inhumane acts are often associated with past atrocities. Yet for millions of living beings, these horrors are a very modern reality. Sickening videos of torture and slaughter taking place on fur farms have shocked any person with a conscience. Every time the results of this bloodshed are displayed in shop windows, the images validate and glorify animal cruelty. Worse, the blood money given to these grotesque products enables and upholds an industry long past its place in a humane society.
You have touted how Britain has some of the world’s highest animal welfare standards. Help make the United Kingdom a true haven of humanity by at last abolishing fur sales and imports across the region.

Completely banning fur trade is the right thing to do, considering only shallow humans feel the need to wear fur coats, fur stoles, etc. to show off. Unfortunately, the only thing they are showing off is their POS inhumane feelings toward innocent animals.

You are right Gilda, I myself am a vegetarian, I don’t wear leather, dogs and cats have to eat meat, they can’t supplement their diet like humans, I’ve met people through the years that make their dogs and cats vegetarians, and these animals are always sick

Well I certainly don’t eat meat and I don’t wear leather and I don’t have pets now and when I did I fed them biscuits and food we ate scraps so not everyone is a hypocrite and I’d never wear fur I believe animals are sentient beings they deserve love care and respect like we do and all animals have family’s brothers sisters mothers fathers, all animals hearts should beat for as long as you would want yours to beat in my lifetime I had my first dog at 11 yrs old I’ve had over 12 cats 10 dogs and most were strays 2 I stole because they were being abused by the owner plus I’ve had 18 racehorses because both my sons are jockeys all my animals are gone now but I’ve had some of them cremated in real coffins buried in a cat and dog cemetery and rest I had cremated have thier ashes in urns in my cabinet I would give my life to save an animals your right about some people they do eat meat wear leatherette but that’s not me

Such a measure can only be introduced because 17.4 million Britons voted to leave the European Union.
This was done in the teeth of opposition and abuse from the parties of the liberal-left, including Labour, the Liberal Democrats and Greens.
It should also be pointed out that 16.1 million people voted for the import of animal fur from EU countries to continue indefintely.

There is no defence for fur farms we have the ability to make fake fur and lets leave animals to enjoy their own. We don’t take nails from humans we make them. Cruelty is human shame. Animals usually kill quickly they do not think everything is here for them. Not everyone can be vegan but everyone can be fur free
