Goal: Endorse ban on fur imports and sales across the United Kingdom.
A long-standing, destructive affront against animal welfare could finally be on its way out permanently in the United Kingdom (UK). In recent years, the countries of Great Britain (England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland) have placed a ban on fur farming. If a new proposal goes through, the UK could soon add abolishment of fur sales to its quest for stronger animal protections.
While certain products (such as furs from domesticated pets or seals) are prohibited from being imported, most other fur sales are still legal. Since leaving the European Union, the United Kingdom now has the authority to reverse course. Fashion designers have already lent their support to the effort. The UK government is asking for public input on potential bans for an industry that counts lifelong confinement in tiny cages and death by electrocution and gas chambers among its many atrocities.

Dear Secretary Finkelstein,
Death by gas, electrocution, lethal injection, and possibly even being skinned alive: such inhumane acts are often associated with past atrocities. Yet for millions of living beings, these horrors are a very modern reality. Sickening videos of torture and slaughter taking place on fur farms have shocked any person with a conscience. Every time the results of this bloodshed are displayed in shop windows, the images validate and glorify animal cruelty. Worse, the blood money given to these grotesque products enables and upholds an industry long past its place in a humane society.
You have touted how Britain has some of the world’s highest animal welfare standards. Help make the United Kingdom a true haven of humanity by at last abolishing fur sales and imports across the region.

We do not need animal skins to keep warm. We have other options for warmth that do not harm or kill animals. These poor creatures are caged, tortured and abused before horrible methods of killing them. Where is our humanity? It’s the same as murdering animals just for the ‘fun’ of killing. Disgusting and appalling.
I totally agree with you Patricia….we do not need animals to stay warm. It seems these days animals are killed and tortured for human greed, and the animals are the ones that are suffering. I hope one day all animals can be free and the world will not be on this huge killing spree to eliminate all animals and wildlife. God please help them…..they are innocent and do not deserve this.
Why is all the fur needed? I can see perhaps hundreds of years ago to keep warm, when there were not alternatives. However there are plenty of other ways to clothe ourselves and keep warm. Sick monstrous greed. Perhaps some of these monsters should have the same treatment that they infict on these poor animals.

By the way, when Trump was President of the US,he weakened wildlife animal protection, so that the hunters (blood crazy zanies) can have their way. Also, Trump undid a law so that hunters and others can import (or export? I have to look into this) animal parts, skins for their collections. So wrong…and totally unneccessary with the many synthetic, man made alternatives available nowadays, that serve the same purpose and mimic the real thing, and do not involve the cruel torture, abuse, and murder of animals to attain! It only continues for the unacceptable reasons of human greed and profit, and a false sense of status…I certainly hope this petition, as well as the multitude of others, I have signed in the past, helps to end the horrific suffering of these innocent animals!

Animal fur is dead as a useful industry! Faux fur provides more options and is less expensive! Not to mention that there is no inhumane animal abuse and killings!! Only the sickest designers and stores would carry real dead animal fur and should be shown for what and who they are!!!!

I applaud the UK for banning the fur trade. It is long overdue, worldwide. The fur trade and business is grotesquely inhumane.
How about giving them the same treatment? Man is every other living things enemy and should be ashamed of all the barbaric and evil things they do.
