Goal: Improve and enforce animal transportation regulations.
China has some of the most lax animal welfare laws in the world. This insufficiency in animal rights has recently led to the death of thousands of animals that were left to die at transportation depots. Five thousand animals were shipped from a breeding farm in China in cardboard boxes where they were left without food or water for over a week until they starved to death in their cardboard coffins. Only 200 animals were saved and sent to a local animal shelter. Transporting animals in this manner is illegal, yet there is no enforceable penalty for perpetrators.
Sign this petition to urge the Chinese authorities to implement new animal transportation regulations and make sure they are enforced.

Dear Minister Li Xiaopeng,
Nearly 5,000 animals were left to starve to death at a shipping depot in China. The perpetrators of such a heinous act of animal cruelty will go unpunished as regulations in your country do not adequately protect animals. This is shameful and must not be allowed to continue. In this most recent tragedy, the thousands of animals that died were stuffed in cardboard boxes and left without food or water for a week. This intentional neglect and willful abuse must end.
I urge you to improve your current regulations governing the transportation of animals and ensure stiff penalties are enforced.

Absolutely heartbreaking. I don’t know how a civilization could continue to be so heartless after all of these centuries. I don’t know what will have to be done to open their eyes, but whatever it turns out to be I hope we find it soon.

China treat their People like this, they do NOT care about animals. they steal peoples pets from in front of their houses to eat in the most horrible way skinning them alive. It is enough to make you hate the Chinese. Thank God finally some are trying to do something about it!

I am so tired of hearing how these countries treat animals. How are they still so primitive, living in the dark ages? These governments need to make radical changes in how they view animals, especially domestic animals…they are domesticated because humans made them that way to be their companions. They deserve our protection and care and most of all our love.

I cannot believe that whoever did this will go unpunished. What does this say about your country and the people who live there? How can anyone think it is alright to ship animals without food or water in cardboard boxes. I am appalled at how heartless your people are. If you let this go unpunished then its on your head.

Those animals must have suffered terribly. Something needs to be done why would anyone that even had an ounce of brain would put an animal in a box with no food or water?
