Young Beagle Dangled Upside Down and Thrown From Moving Car Deserves Justice

Target: Commonwealth Attorney of Norfolk, Virginia Gregory D. Underwood

Goal: Find and prosecute person who hung dog upside down and dropped her out of car window in busy traffic.

A 1-year-old beagle was taunted when she was held by a passenger upside down outside a car window and callously dropped onto a busy road while the vehicle was in motion. Whoever did this needs to be immediately found, arrested, and prosecuted to ensure such a horrific event will be less likely to happen in the future.

A witness saw what happened and stopped to rescue the animal. They called authorities, and the dog was taken to a nearby veterinary hospital to be evaluated. Although she is OK, the animal is understandably now fearful around people.

Police are still searching for whoever did this. Sign this petition to demand that if the person is found, they be arrested and receive time in prison for committing this unthinkable act of animal cruelty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prosecuting Attorney Underwood,

Police are currently investigating an animal cruelty case after helping a 1-year-old beagle that was hung upside down and dropped outside a car window as the vehicle was being driven. It is important that the person responsible be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law in order to help keep other animals in the area safe.

A witness stopped their car and blocked traffic to rescue the young dog before calling police. The animal was taken to receive medical care, where it was determined that she was physically OK. However, the veterinarian noticed that she was still quite shaken from the incident. The beagle is currently under the care of animal control.

Although it is possible for an abused animal to recover from severe mistreatment, some dogs continue to experience stress as a result of the former cruelty displayed toward them. A dog can also develop PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) after being treated poorly and may later show unwanted behaviors, such as aggression, toward new owners, which may result in the animal being returned to a local shelter. For these reasons, I demand you seek the strictest punishment possible for whoever committed this senseless crime if they are found.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. One thing that’s been proven over & over is that those who abuse animals eventually turn on humans. Take a look at some information regarding abusive cases and serial killers. We need to have these people punished with more than a fine and a slap on the wrist!

    • You are 100% correct…this article made me feel ill reading it. I swear I can’t figure out how anyone could do such a horrendous act. I agree…lots of jail time, heavy fines and never be able to have animals. Laws need to be upgraded to keep the evil ones in jail.

It’s a pity that the USA hasn’t copied the UK law – namely to microchip all dogs that may go into public places. If the USA had such a law, then it would be easy to trace the owners of this beagle. (Anyone interested in pushing for such a law in the USA?). Well done to the witnesses who saved the dog (probably at great risk to their own lives). Did anyone get the licence plate of the car? If not, then there’s not much hope of an arrest, and even less of a successful prosecution.

  3. Until these pos are put in jail for 1 yr + this sick behavior wont stop. Our sysyem views cocaine possession a threat to society more than this. That is the problem. Gutless judges and pols.

  4. Pamela Hengst says:

I am glad the precious beagle was rescued by a caring individual. The scum who committed this crime is known by someone. Find and prosecute the individuals responsible. Many laws were broken. There is no excuse for their cowardly, cruel, stupid behavior!! People like that deserve no mercy.

  5. Rose Coffey says:

How anyone can be this cruel and heartless is beyond me. I would like to see creeps like this one and also the driver put behind bars – and not for just a short time. What absolute sickos.

  6. I agree with all the above comments. Animal cruelty is everywhere and needs stricter laws to combat it. I’m glad the dog is OK, but please find a decent home for him/her. Hopefully, the dog won’t be traumatized forever. Someone must know who did this….because people who think this is funny will tell someone else and hopefully, the nitwit who did this will face consequences. Please do not sweep this under the rug for the sake of future dogs being treated this way.

  7. Next it will be a baby. Why didn’t the individual who saw/reported this get a license plate number? Duh.

  8. Find and prosecute the piece of -rap sociopaths who did this.

  9. Do the same to this piece of crap! We don’t need him/her living.

  10. They must have the vehicle reg to trace the subhuman. Jail time banned from owning an animal ever again and a curse on you from this day on. Worthless piece of garbage. May this sweet soul be sent to a loving safe home. Unlike the scum that did this.

I live in CT and am a member of many animal groups on Facebook.
I signed another petition for this same case bc unfortunately the dog has been returned to the owner and noone seems to know why.
I was told it is bc there was not enough witnesses.
Some advocate groups like ‘Desmonds Army’ have put up money to have the dog revoked from owner.
They have posted numbers for Senator Duffs staff that people have been calling.
I do t have an update at this time but the laws need to truely change.
    Ty

  12. Susan Ecks says:

FIND THESE SICK AND EVIL MONSTERS AND PROSECUTE THEM TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW OR THEY WILL DO IT AGAIN IF NOT STOPPED AND LOCKED UP!!!
THEY HAVE NO REGARD FOR LIFE AND FIND IT HUMOROUS TO TORTURE ANIMALS AND NEXT IT MAY BE A HUMAN!!!
THIS POOR BEAGLE DESERVES JUSTICE FOR THEIR HORRIFIC ABUSE!!!!

  13. When are these animals going to get protection from these SICK people. Seems like the petitions are not moving the sad laws that are in place fast enough!! What would be the next step, because it needs to change now!!

  14. And they live among us. And shouldn’t.

  15. Barbara Byerly says:

    Shameful.

  16. Jacqueline says:

Find this thing! It’s insane and needs to be off the street.

  17. L. Perez-Cappiello says:

The laws need to be more harsh when it comes to brutal torturing, killings of dogs, cats, horses, etc. That just might save a child’s life,(since these acts of violence often leads to torturing/killing of children).

  18. Throw that person out of a moving car when you are driving over a bridge!!!death is all they deserve!

  19. Nadine Brundige says:

Whoever committed this horrific cruelty needs to be found and exterminated. Heartless, evil scum should not be walking among us. If we had better laws to protect innocent animals, animal cruelty cases would drop, but since our pathetic justice system and weak judges let these low life’s off with the usual slap on the wrist. I would like the death penalty for brainless assholes.

  20. THERE ARE MONSTERS AMONG US, AND MUST BE ELIMINATED. WE ARE NOT DEALING WITH ‘HUMANS’, SO THE OTHERWISE PROTECTIONS OF SOCIETY TO NOT APPLY TO THEM!!! PROTECTING THE INNOCENTS FAR AND AWAY TAKES PRECEDENCE OF THE ‘RIGHTS’ OF THESE DEPRAVED MUTANTS.
