Stop Allegedly Forcing Animals to Dance and be Painted for Entertainment

Target: Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India

Goal: Prompt a comprehensive investigation into allegations of animal cruelty at the Sadar Utsav festival.

In Hyderabad, a disturbing scenario surfaced at Sadar Utsav, a historical festival of the Yadav community. Here, bulls are exhibited for their health and vitality. Recent reports, propelled by media and social media, highlighted potential cruelty towards these animals, sparking significant concern.

Allegations include painting bulls and coercing horses to dance, activities that might contravene the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Despite a complaint filed by Adulapuram Goutham of the Stray Animal Foundation of India, the action seemed delayed. Only after the involvement of animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi did the Narayanaguda police register an FIR.

Organizers defend these practices as integral to their cultural heritage, challenging the allegations and underscoring their view of these acts as traditional expressions of reverence. However, this perspective does not eclipse the potential for harm and suffering inflicted on these animals. Hyderabad’s police, initially accused of laxity, have since initiated an investigation, though the focus remains on the organizers rather than individuals.

This incident raises crucial questions about cultural practices, animal welfare, and legal adherence, demanding a balanced yet firm approach to ensure justice and animal welfare. Take action now.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Narendra Modi,

We urge your immediate attention to a serious concern in Hyderabad, where the Sadar Utsav festival has reportedly become a site of animal cruelty. This festival, rooted in tradition, is now under scrutiny for practices allegedly harmful to animals, including painting bulls and manipulating horses in distressing ways.

We call upon you, as Prime Minister, to ensure a rigorous, unbiased investigation into these allegations. It is critical to balance respect for cultural practices with the imperative of animal welfare and legal compliance. The case necessitates discernment, balancing tradition with the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

It is paramount for society to honor its cultural heritage while concurrently upholding the ethical treatment of all living beings. By addressing this issue with the seriousness it deserves, India can demonstrate its commitment to both its rich traditions and its duty towards animal welfare. We trust in your leadership to guide this sensitive issue towards a just and humane resolution.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
