Commerce City police executed a search warrant after receiving multiple reports of suspected animal welfare violations. Inside the property, investigators apparently found 31 dogs, two cats, and two guinea pigs confined in overcrowded, poorly ventilated backyard enclosures contaminated with accumulated waste. Officers also reportedly found the body of a deceased dog concealed inside a residential trash container.
Authorities allege the property’s occupant had been operating an unlicensed veterinary clinic, performing complex surgical procedures on animals without legal authorization or professional licensing. The surviving animals were removed and transferred to emergency shelters for treatment, rehabilitation, and behavioral assessment. The accused has been arrested on multiple felony animal cruelty charges, along with additional criminal offenses.
Performing invasive medical procedures without proper qualifications while housing animals in dangerous conditions represents an extraordinary breach of trust.
