Stop Advanced Technology From Threatening Fish

Target: Bernadette Jordan, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard

Goal: Do not allow advanced fishing technology to be used in sport fishing.

As technology improves, so does humankind’s ability to dominate other animals. Recently, new sportfishing technology is giving fishermen an unfair advantage, and many scientists and professional fishermen believe that this has a detrimental effect on several aquatic species. Drones are being used to drop baited lines, and electric lures attract fish with scents or flashing lights. 3D fish-finding technology also allows people to hunt fish through the water before casting their lines.

Equipment such as this will turn a recreational hobby into an unsustainable threat that endangers many species of fish. The use of this technology must be reeled in before it becomes commonplace, and before fish are taken from our waters at alarming rates.

Sign this petition to stop technology from turning a recreational pastime into a global aquatic disaster.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Honorable Jordan,

Recreational sport fishing is slowly becoming a technology-driven slaughter. Gadgets such as 3-dimensional fish finders worth thousands of dollars to lures attracting fish with electric lights and simulated scents are being used to attract the biggest and best fish in an unsportsmanlike catch. Drones are even employed to drop baited lures, so fishermen don’t even have to fish anymore.

All these excessive technologies create an unfair advantage of man over fish. This has the disastrous possibility of threatening the survival of many different fish species.

I urge you to disallow the use of these unnecessary and even unethical devices before they become mainstream. If a person feels the urge to fish, then let them fish, but do not let them turn it into a game where the odds are always stacked in their favor.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

THESE TOXIC MASCULINITY UNHINGED DOUCHE BAGS DO NOT “FISH” ANYMORE THEY USE TECHNOLOGY TO SEE RIGHT WHERE THE FISH ARE THERES NO CONTEST THERES NO HUNT LEFT JUST USELESS BAGS OF SHIT CALLING THEMSELVES SPORTSMEN WIPING OUT SPECIES AFTER SPECIES BECAUSE OF THIER MATCHO EGOS AND REALLY IGNORANT UNEDUCATED BRAINS….

Fishing is not different than hunting. Both activities are exterminating wild life and should not be considered as “sports” anymore.

New technology is not doing the earth a favor. When ships began to have sonar it was impressive but shortly afterwards so many ships had sonar and fishermen went wild. No thought for the amount of fish to catch then and now China has 17000 fishing tips all over the world taking as many fish as they can carry. A study showed that by 2048 there will be no more fish in all the oceans! That may seem farfetched but it is true. No more fish? why? China ate them all. The same was true for oysters. We ate all of them too! We have enough trouble without more ways to catch fish which are not ours to catch. People are greedy and selfish certainly not using their common sense.

  4. No matter what technology, or lack of, that is used for fishing, there should always be a limit and size of fish stated in the State laws. Some people use fish finders. I feel that this is OK, as long as the fisherman still needs to figure out the correct bait and actually “fish” for his dinner. We need to keep it a sport, not a slaughter. Commercial fishing is a whole different matter. I believe that there are some international agreements as to amount of fish taken, but if countries can’t, or won’t agree, that’s when the trouble starts. I don’t think that high tech devices should be used in order to overfish a species into endangerment and extinction. But how do we get everyone to agree with set limits? The big question is, how do we feed the billions of people on this planet without running out of food?

Advanced technology “IS” giving man the unfair advantage over fish. Science recently stated by the year 2048 there will be no more fish in the oceans! Seems impossible yet China has 17,000 fishing boats in the world’s oceans scooping up all the fish they can grab. Now, today! No one country is entitled to ALL the fish. Mankind is selfish. Presently in America fishermen are going after Goliath Grouper. No license should be given to fish Grouper at this time as they have been recovering from almost extinction for 27 years. If it is allowed for fishermen to use even more technology to catch fish the fish may be gone prior to 2048! Humans don’t seem to feel united but with climate change what one does affects all others. This means we are each responsible and accountable. Our actions affect the world and the world is watching!

  6. As usual, humans are too selfish, stupid and committed to ruining our planet as God made it. Wonder what we’ll come up with come 2048 when all the fish and coral reefs are gone. Thank God I’ll be long gone by then!!! I’m inherently sad for what our children will live through in the future that WE SELFISH, STUPID humans are wrongly creating.
