Dog Who Had Been Shot in Back and Then Reportedly Neglected Deserves Justice

Target: Sean Duggan, Chief of Police of Chandler, Arizona

Goal: Demand a thorough investigation into alleged abuse of a paralyzed dog at a rescue.

An alarming situation has come to light in Chandler, Arizona, where a rescue organization is reportedly under investigation for potential animal abuse. Concerns were raised by a Texas-based animal rescue, which had entrusted the Special Needs Animal Welfare League in Chandler with the care of a paralyzed dog named Butters, who had been apparently shot in the back.

This Texas rescue had agreed to transfer Butters and another dog to the Chandler-based organization, believing it would provide the specialized care these dogs needed. However, recent pictures reportedly showing Butters looking severely underweight raised serious concerns about the well-being of the animals in the care of this Chandler rescue.

Allegations of neglect and mistreatment prompted the Texas rescue to take action. They traveled to Chandler and apparently discovered what they describe as appalling conditions – dozens of dogs reportedly living in a Chandler home, with incessant barking and a disturbing, putrid odor. The Chandler police were alerted, and photos and videos of the situation were shared on social media to draw attention to the matter.

Reportedly, representatives from the Chandler rescue initially offered to address the allegations but failed to follow up. When journalists from Arizona’s Family news outlet arrived at the property associated with the rescue, they reportedly encountered an unpleasant odor and a lack of cooperation in verifying the living conditions of the animals. We must take action now.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chief Duggan,

We, the concerned citizens, are writing to express our deep concern and distress regarding the allegations of animal abuse at a Chandler-based rescue organization. The reported conditions and treatment of animals under their care have raised serious ethical and legal questions.

Allegations of neglect and mistreatment, including claims of dogs living in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, cannot be ignored. The reported putrid odor and the disturbing sounds of animals in distress have deeply troubled our community.

We urge you, as the Chief of Police of Chandler, Arizona, to take immediate action and launch a thorough investigation into these allegations. It is imperative that the welfare of these animals is safeguarded, and those responsible for any wrongdoing are held accountable under the law.

Our society places great importance on the humane treatment of animals, and we must ensure that any organization entrusted with their care upholds these standards. By investigating these allegations rigorously, you can send a clear message that animal abuse will not be tolerated in our community.

We implore you to act swiftly in this matter and to keep the public informed about the progress of the investigation. Justice for these animals is paramount, and we believe that your office has the authority and responsibility to ensure that justice is served.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. Nothing is worse than a rescue organization trusting another rescue organization to care for wounded and injured animals. This is not just wrong it is vile and evil. This supposed rescue organization myst be held responsible and punished accordingly. What they did was reprehensible. There is no excuse. How they can ever feel they should be taken into consideration and not charged is beyond my understanding but I’m sure their attorneys will try to do so. I hope they will be tired and found guilty and sentenced to a prolonged period of time in prison as they deserve no less.

    • Not all rescue organizations are good. This is why people need to do thier homework. ASPCA in N.Y.One example of a horrible place. We rescuers knew about them for decades. People did not believe us until they were exposed for hiding MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

    • Troubling too is that the rescue that turned the injured dog over to the one in Chandler didn’t verify the rescue was above board. Shame on them too.

  2. Texas. A living hell for any animal that isn’t salable livestock. I am in awe of the real legitimate rescues that are working to save and help the animals being abused in what appears to be the thousands in this state. Mr Duggan needs to do his duty and investigate and solve this problem, anything else is just enabling abuse. Fines, jail and lifetime ban from any animal contact for this evil ‘rescue’.

JOANNE. JUST BECAUSE A LIVING BEING IS CONSIDERED “SALABLE LIVESTOCK” YOU SOMEHOW INSINUATE LIFE ISN’T A LIVING HELL FOR THEM? FOR BILLIONS UPON BILLIONS OF SENTIENT BEINGS? TO BE SADISTICALLY CONFINED TO BE HORRIFICALLY SHIPPED TO END UP IN AN EVIL SLAUGHTERHOUSE TO BE BRUTALLY SLAUGHTERED? REALLY JOANNE? WAIT WHOS EVIL?

  3. This is something I’m always worried about. As a rescue we have to be diligent about who we are dealing with. This monster must go to jail.

  4. I just hope this ‘rescue org?’ has been closed down – for ever.

  5. this is no rescue, this is a hoarder. do the same to them

  6. How come this supposedly rescue facility is still open. It should have been shut down immediately and the animals sent somewhere they can recover. These people should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and never allowed to own any animals let alone run a rescue. How they can treat animals like this is beyond my comprehension.
I hope butters and all the other animals are okay now.

And how many sheltets across the country do the ssme thing. Leave animals in their kennels for weeks at a time with no treatment. Where is peta and the humane society then?

  8. put them all in jail

  9. Please do what is needed to help these and ALL animals-they deserve loving care, not to be mistreated or abused!

  10. IF THIS IS A RESCUE PLACE THEN DO THE SAME TO THEM!!!
I HATE SOME PEOPLE WHO ABUSES AND KILLS DEFENSELESS ANIMALS.

  11. I live in Arizona. And I’m discussed at the lack of concern and care this (so called) shelter gave these poor injured dogs. Close it down. Jail and fine those people who are responsible. And never allow anyone affiliated with this place to care for or own any animals ever again. Or in my way of justice, give them the same lack of care, lack of nutrition, and make them live in their own waste. Exactly what they gave these defenseless animals.

  12. First order of business is to find the degenerate who shot the dog and shoot him or her in the back of the head. Second order of business save some bullets for this rescue

  13. So is the dog saved? Sounds like they all are still in this condition at this house.. please update

  14. Texas has many wonderful rescues that put their all into every animal in their care. Judging Texas across the board is not fair to those who do their very best. Every single State has good and bad ppl. Have you seen the CAFO lots in New Mexico and Arizona? How about living in the desert heat in a confined space of dirt and feces all of your life? It is everywhere. Until the laws change and humans do not “own” animals whether sentient beings, companion animals, food animals, things will only get slightly better for the animals we are supposed to take care of, not abuse. NY State, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Tennessee…you can find animals living in horrific conditions. I sign petitions daily for animals in many different States.

  15. i believe the man who did this is nothing but a coward. cruelty in this world is awful. this fog didn’t deserve this at all. jail time is to good for the man.

  16. Pamela Plambeck says:

The allegations of neglect and mistreatment of dogs at the Special Needs Animal Welfare League – a “rescue organization” in Chandler,AZ, must be addressed. While I live in Nebraska, dogs living in unsanitary, if not deplorable – conditions anywhere in the U.S. is unacceptable and needs immediate attention. Your consideration and actions are appreciated.

  17. May all those who torture, abuse or neglect animals suffer a slow horrible painful death before they rot in hell!

  18. Nicole Decaro says:

“Compassion for animals is intimately associated with goodness of character, and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.”

    ― Arthur Schopenhauer

Maximum sentence with NO plea for abusers.

  19. Monica+Lee+Koski says:

Wow…If you can not trust an animal rescue organization to properly care for and show compassion to the animals under their care, who are you supposed to trust?! If these allegations are investigated and found to be true, which sounds very likely, then charges for abuse and neglect should be brought up to all involved, and all should be prosecuted to the max and the facility shut down!

  20. If you can find the bastard, just fuck him.
