Six Puppies Allegedly Torn From Mother: Demand Justice

Target: Ivan Vyhivskyi, Head of the National Police, Ukraine

Goal: Ensure that every person allegedly responsible for abducting six young puppies, separating them from their nursing mother, and abandoning them in an isolated area is prosecuted to the fullest extent of Ukrainian law.

Their mother searched for them, but the trail ended where humans had intervened. According to animal welfare volunteers, six stray puppies—only about three months old—were seized, forced into a rough burlap sack, carried away from the only home they knew, and dumped in a remote grassy area far from people. Had rescuers not located them in time, the frightened litter could have succumbed to dehydration, starvation, or attacks by predators before ever finding their way back.

Police opened a criminal investigation after volunteers filed a formal complaint identifying four individuals who allegedly participated in the forced removal. Witnesses reportedly observed the puppies being separated from their nursing mother before allegedly being transported to an isolated location and abandoned without food, water, or shelter. Acting on information from local residents, officers successfully located the litter and reunited them with their mother. Authorities emphasize that the forced displacement may violate Ukraine’s animal welfare laws protecting companion animals from abandonment and cruelty. Investigators are currently reviewing community surveillance footage and gathering witness statements to confirm each suspect’s role. The investigation remains active, and no court has determined criminal liability.

Abandoning dependent puppies after separating them from their mother represents an act of extraordinary cruelty. Young animals rely entirely on maternal care during the earliest months of life, and forcibly removing them may have exposed them to needless suffering and death. Those identified should face meaningful legal consequences to deter similar acts in the future.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chief Vyhivskyi,

The reported removal and abandonment of six young puppies has caused widespread concern among animal welfare advocates. Investigators allege that the litter was forcibly separated from its nursing mother, placed into a sack, and abandoned in a remote location where survival would have been uncertain without rescue.

Police continue reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and compiling evidence regarding the four individuals identified in the formal complaint. These allegations remain subject to judicial determination and should be evaluated through a complete and impartial investigation.

Please ensure that, if the evidence ultimately supports the allegations, every identified individual is prosecuted under the fullest provisions of Ukrainian law. Vulnerable animals deserve protection from abandonment, forced separation, and needless suffering.

Sincerely,
