“There was no way to even comprehend the amount of pain he was feeling.” This somber statement came from the rescue group who cared for Phoenix, a five-week-old kitten brought to the Tennessee-based organization. Phoenix had apparently suffered severe burns over much of his body, leaving him with extensive nerve damage. Despite the rescue’s best efforts, Phoenix tragically died from his injuries.
Local police reportedly confirmed that these horrific burns resulted from Phoenix being tossed into a fire pit. He is beleived to have suffered for days without medical intervention before his case was brought to authorities’ attention…precious time that could have been used to save his life. Richard Lee Tyler Russell, the man with whom Phoenix lived, has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

Dear District Attorney General Whitley,
Suspect Richard Lee Tyler Russell has an impending court date on charges of aggravated animal cruelty. He stands accused of throwing his pet kitten into a fire pit and leaving the animal to suffer from extensive injuries without medical aid. Although the kitten was later rescued thanks to a tip from a good Samaritan, he reportedly died in agony. The rescue organization who battled to save his life said of the tragedy: “his tiny body was just unable to fight off the horrible burns he was dealing with, plus the smoke inhalation.”
Both this organization, who witnessed the horrific effects firsthand, and the community at large are pleading for justice to be served. Please be vigilant in prosecuting this disturbing case and pursuing the most severe penalty.

It has been researched and proven that such callous behaviour towards a helpless, innocent animal WILL lead to similar torture against vulnerable children, elderly, disabled humans. Perpetrators should be dealt with severely and their names placed on a register, similar to that for child sex offenders. They will go on and escalate the severity of their vicious crimes.

I like that idea. An eye for an eye. Someone needs to make an example of what will happen to you if you f***k with animals. These are monsters & there is no place for them in society. To me there is no other alternative but to torture, beat, burn them as they have Done. Why should we pay for their meals & housing IF it would ever get to that point where they would even get jail. The first time I had heard of this level of animal abuse was in the late 1990’s. They had videotaped their horrendous torture of an innocent dog , bragging about it as they passed on their videotape. Luckily, a friend had saw their video & turned them in. Their punishment, a fine. Yeah if there was some kind of underground militia that went across all states and cities in US or worldwide even better where many people sought revenge in many different ways ruining a mfs life and repeated beatings badly etc etc I would join. I think there actually is one out there but it’s only for getting even on people companies and colleges etc that test on animals. They burn down their vehicles in parking lots I read and have been around for quite awhile. That bastard must be charged with animal cruelty felonies, not just get a slap in the wrist. He must serve 10 years in prison with no early parole, pay a $500,000 fine, be banned for life from owning or going near any animals ever again, and must have any other animals seized immediately from his home.
