Goal: Prosecute man who allegedly fatally burned pet kitten to fullest extent.
“There was no way to even comprehend the amount of pain he was feeling.” This somber statement came from the rescue group who cared for Phoenix, a five-week-old kitten brought to the Tennessee-based organization. Phoenix had apparently suffered severe burns over much of his body, leaving him with extensive nerve damage. Despite the rescue’s best efforts, Phoenix tragically died from his injuries.
Local police reportedly confirmed that these horrific burns resulted from Phoenix being tossed into a fire pit. He is beleived to have suffered for days without medical intervention before his case was brought to authorities’ attention…precious time that could have been used to save his life. Richard Lee Tyler Russell, the man with whom Phoenix lived, has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

Dear District Attorney General Whitley,
Suspect Richard Lee Tyler Russell has an impending court date on charges of aggravated animal cruelty. He stands accused of throwing his pet kitten into a fire pit and leaving the animal to suffer from extensive injuries without medical aid. Although the kitten was later rescued thanks to a tip from a good Samaritan, he reportedly died in agony. The rescue organization who battled to save his life said of the tragedy: “his tiny body was just unable to fight off the horrible burns he was dealing with, plus the smoke inhalation.”
Both this organization, who witnessed the horrific effects firsthand, and the community at large are pleading for justice to be served. Please be vigilant in prosecuting this disturbing case and pursuing the most severe penalty.

Laws need to change, this act of cruelty should not be tolerated. This person purposely committed this act. He should be charged with attempted murder. Yes it’s just an animal not a human being, to many people are committing cruel acts on animals. The laws need to reflect these crimes. No more slaps on the back and small fines.
That is the tragic damn truth! Tougher laws ate needed. Its not enough to punish people with little to no imprisonment…lightweight fines one would be charged at or less than the amount for a serious speed limit violation when these evil excuses for humankind inflict unthinkable heinous treatment on animals (domesticated or wild). The laws for animal abuse should be – needs to be SERIOUSLY TOUGH! AND THEN ENFORCED! Personally, I will support laws that carry the the punishment that (at minimum) matches the abuse! I hope the evil man who threw this kitten (Phoenix) into the fire and then denied Phoenix the medical care he urgently, desperately needed meets with equally heinous painful suffering and then is gone frim this life!
Whatever motivated this so-called human to do something as sick and deplorable and vile and evil as this is no excuse! A grown man verses a tiny kitten. I don’t care what the kitten may or may not have done, this is depraved and hateful in ways that are beyond evil. What else has this human turd done?
Dear God… some individuals of humanity are an utter disgrace… please bless this little kitten God, my heart aches for this tiny little life destroyed and suffering the greatest agony by a member of the human race… to see such a thing done to an innocent little animal is beyond my comprehension… this atrocious abuse and cruelty to animals cannot be tolerated… adequate laws must be put in place to deal with human individuals like this, smack this culprit hard with a harsh punishment… there are no excuses for such human behaviour.
