Target: Eric J. Richey, Prosecuting Attorney, Whatcom County, Washington
Goal: Vigorously prosecute 30 felony animal-cruelty charges involving dogs allegedly found wounded, severely underweight, parasite-infested, and living without adequate food or water.
Approximately 30 dogs were removed from a property used by Pittie Project PNW after investigators say they encountered deeply disturbing conditions. Deputies reportedly documented open wounds on dogs’ bodies, legs, and tails, worms visible in feces, fur matted and discolored by urine and waste, and animals so underweight that their ribs, hips, and leg bones were visible.
Ashley Georgia, founder of Pittie Project PNW, has been charged with 30 felony counts of first-degree animal cruelty, and an arrest warrant was issued. Authorities allege that she was responsible for the dogs’ care. She has not been convicted, and the charges must be proven through evidence and due process.
Investigators also reported that food donations and thousands of dollars had been provided for the animals’ care. Prosecutors should examine veterinary findings, photographs, donation records, communications, volunteer testimony, financial records, and the history of every affected dog. If the evidence proves prolonged or knowing cruelty, the response should reflect the scale and severity of the suffering established in court.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Prosecuting Attorney Richey,
Dogs removed from a Whatcom County rescue property were reportedly found with open wounds, parasites, waste-matted fur, extreme weight loss, and inadequate access to food or water. Thirty felony animal-cruelty charges have now been filed against Ashley Georgia.
Please ensure that prosecutors thoroughly present the veterinary evidence, photographs, witness accounts, donation records, and other admissible evidence establishing responsibility for each affected animal.
If these charges are proven beyond a reasonable doubt, pursue meaningful penalties for every established count. Animals entrusted to a rescue organization are especially dependent on those responsible for their care. Severe suffering behind the label of rescue must receive full legal accountability when criminal cruelty is proven.
Sincerely,
