Justice for Dog Allegedly Chased Down on Motorcycle and Burned Alive

Target: B. Shivadhar Reddy, Director General of Police, Telangana State Police, Hyderabad, India

Goal: Ensure the individual who allegedly chased a dog on a motorcycle, doused it in petrol, and burned it alive is arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

A dog in Telangana was allegedly chased down by a person on a motorcycle before being doused in petrol and burned alive — one of the most extreme acts of individual animal cruelty reported in India in 2026. According to reports, the same individual also assaulted and manhandled animal welfare NGO workers with iron rods when they attempted to intervene or investigate, suggesting a brazen willingness to commit violence against both animals and humans without fear of legal consequence.

The alleged facts of this case reflect a dual crisis: the deliberate targeting and burning of a living animal, and the physical intimidation of those who sought to protect it. The use of petrol to burn a dog alive is not an impulsive act — it involves planning, pursuit, and sustained infliction of suffering. That the accused allegedly then turned on NGO workers with iron rods compounds the severity of what must be a vigorous prosecutorial response.

India’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 criminalises acts of deliberate cruelty. The individual allegedly responsible for this act must face prosecution.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear DGP Reddy,

We are writing to urge your office to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the individual allegedly responsible for chasing a dog on a motorcycle, dousing it in petrol, and burning it alive in Telangana. According to reports, this same individual also assaulted animal welfare NGO workers who intervened, reportedly attacking them with iron rods — suggesting a pattern of violence directed at both animals and those who seek to protect them.

The alleged acts described in this case are among the most extreme individual instances of animal cruelty reported in India this year. Burning a living animal alive with petrol is not impulsive — it involves pursuit and deliberate preparation. The additional alleged assault on welfare workers makes this an urgent public safety matter as well as an animal cruelty case.

We respectfully urge your office to direct Telangana Police to arrest and prosecute the individual allegedly responsible for both the burning of the dog and the assault on welfare workers, and to pursue the maximum penalties available under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and applicable sections of the Indian Penal Code. Justice demands immediate action.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
