According to the Animal Freedom Alliance, the man knew that Oh Sun-yi was a pet due to her leash but proceeded to slaughter her without attempting to find her guardian. It is further claimed that he had a history of animal cruelty, including dragging a dog with a snare and strangling it shortly before killing Oh Sun-yi. The broadcast failed to highlight the victim’s suffering and instead focused on the perspective of the alleged abuser.

Such a depiction is deeply troubling and undermines efforts to combat animal cruelty. Media outlets have a responsibility to handle sensitive topics with care and should not inadvertently glorify or excuse harmful actions.
