Target: Scott Mann, Minister for Rural Affairs and Biosecurity, United Kingdom
Goal: Increase funding and public awareness to aid overcrowded RSPCA rescue centres and promote pet adoption.
A critical situation is unfolding in Lancashire and across the UK, where RSPCA rescue centres are facing unprecedented overcrowding. More than 100 animals are currently living in expensive private boarding facilities in Lancashire alone, as the charity’s centres are at capacity. The soaring cost of living has exacerbated the crisis, with animals being surrendered faster than they can be rehomed, leading to a massive financial burden on the RSPCA, which now faces bills of £500,000 a month.
The RSPCA reports that over 1,400 animals, including 503 dogs, 126 rabbits, 201 cats, and many other species, are awaiting rehoming in private boarding facilities. The cost of caring for these animals in private accommodation has skyrocketed, and with cruelty reports on the rise—over 44,000 in just the first half of 2024—the charity’s resources are being stretched to the breaking point.
The situation is dire, and the RSPCA is urgently calling on the public to consider adopting pets rather than buying from breeders or pet shops. The charity emphasizes that this is the busiest time of the year and they desperately need the community’s support to rehome these animals and alleviate the financial strain. Take action now.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Scott Mann,
I am writing to express deep concern regarding the severe overcrowding crisis facing RSPCA rescue centres in Lancashire and across the UK. With more than 100 animals currently living in private boarding facilities due to lack of space in RSPCA centres, the charity is struggling to manage the financial burden and care for these animals.
The RSPCA’s recent report highlights a critical situation, with the cost of housing animals in private accommodation reaching £500,000 per month. This is compounded by a 23% increase in animal cruelty reports, placing even more pressure on the charity’s already stretched resources.
I urge you to take immediate action to address this crisis by increasing funding for animal rescue and welfare organizations and promoting public awareness about the importance of adopting pets from rescue centres. These measures are essential to ensuring the welfare of animals in need and supporting the vital work of the RSPCA.
Your intervention is crucial to help alleviate the overcrowding in rescue centres and ensure that these animals receive the care and compassion they deserve.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]

FOR A START…. GOVERNMENTS MUST BAN PUPPY & KITTEN MILL$.. THEY ARE CRUELLY PUMPING OUT LITTER$ & LITTER$ OF PUPPIE$ FROM $UFFERING MOTHER DOG$, THE MALE$ ARE TREATED CRUELLY AL$O.. ALL FOR DE$IGNER DOG$!!! for all the mindless idiots that want them,,, SO MANY END UP IN ANIMAL SHELTERS.
Secondly,,, No Kill Shelters are facing too many issues by not euthanizing very sick & very old animals are even harder to find homes for… so more & more healthy animals are being turned away from animal shelters… pregnant animals are being turned away also… many of these animals end up being dumped or given to strangers for free & you can just imagine what might happen to many of these poor unfortunate animals… Animal Shelters are inundated with surrendered animals, not just cats & dogs,,, there cannot be a no kill policy,, this just creates more animals that cannot be rehomed. Also,, there is NOT ENOUGH Awesome Animal Carers in the community (on the outside),to care for dogs, cats & other animals until they can be adopted/rehomed,they are full.
I am the last person that wants ANY animal to be euthanized but common sense must be used. We can’t have pregnant animals, healthy animals being turned away from shelters, many end up suffering, starving and dead! in the wrong hands.
Enough IS Enough! ANIMALS are the ones SUFFERING THE MOST because idiot humans can’t make the right decisions about any fucking thing,,, seriously.
AND CRACK DOWN ON BACKYARD BREEDERS!!!!!
THIS IS OUT OF CONTROL AS WELL… NOT TO MENTION,,, THESE ANIMALS ARE SUFFERING & DYING TOO!!!!
