Success: Animal Testing Banned in California

Target: Anthony Rendon, Speaker of the California State Assembly

Goal: Praise California’s official ban on animal testing by cosmetics companies.

Animal testing by cosmetics companies has been officially banned across the state of California. The bill was unanimously passed in an 80-0 vote by the California State Assembly, with the only step remaining for Governor Gavin Newsom to sign it. Thanks to this new law, no companies will be allowed to test their products on animals, saving millions of innocent creatures from ulcers, skin inflammations, and bleeding due to chemical-laden cosmetics.

Animal testing has been outlawed in many countries, but the United States is slow to catch up, with California being only the fourth state to ban testing outright. Many petitions have been circulated demanding California stop this practice; while the state did ban the sale of products tested on animals, this was only one step. It is not enough to merely ban such products, the practice must stop altogether, and California has done just that.

This may only be another small step in the fight to ban animal testing worldwide, but it is an important one. Sign this petition to thank California for protecting animals from future agony and torture in testing labs.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Speaker Rendon,

Thank you for the unanimous vote to ban further animal testing by cosmetics companies in your state. The practice has harmed and even killed countless innocent creatures such as rabbits, mice, birds, and other species, and the United States, in general, has been slow to phase it out. Your state is the fourth to issue a full ban after many have protested and demanded it for years.

We are grateful to you for saving the lives and well-being of millions of animals across your state from painful side effects and possible deaths. There are more humane ways to test cosmetics, and hopefully cosmetics companies will implement them. It is hoped that other states will soon follow in your example.

Sincerely,
