Success: Owner of Animal House of Horrors Sentenced to Jail Time

Target: Matt Durrett, Prosecuting Attorney for Washington County, Arkansas

Goal: Praise the punishment of a woman who kept dozens of dogs and a cat in a feces-filled home.

An animal cruelty offender will serve jailtime after she kept 25 dogs and one cat in deplorable conditions. Three additional dogs died in the feces-filled house. Thank the prosecutor who fought for these helpless animals.

A Washington County Circuit Court jury found Vickie West guilty of four misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. The shocking case, detailed in this ForceChange petition, involved dogs living in cages filled with several inches of their own feces. Their fur was saturated with urine, and many of the animals were emaciated and sick. Multiple animal rescue groups came forward, stating that West had adopted animals from different locations and later claimed they had died.

West was sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter. Sign below to thank the prosecutor for seeking jail time in this horrific case.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prosecutor Durrett,

Dozens of animals have been given a voice after they were neglected and kept in deplorable conditions. Your dedication to finding them justice has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for standing up for these innocent creatures.

Vickie West was found guilty of four misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty after she kept 25 dogs and one cat in a feces-ridden house. The animals were forced to live in several inches of their own feces and urine soaked their coats. Their bodies were frail and sick, and three dogs died due to the neglect. Now, West will be sent to jail for 30 days and she has been ordered to pay $5,000 to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter.

This is what justice looks like. Animals cannot always defend themselves and your dedication to their welfare is appreciated.

Sincerely,

  1. 30 days are not enough. She deserves more time in prison.

    • 100 years would be a great start. No less than that due to 3 deaths cause by manslaughter and dozens of other charges. When all are added together, the total will add up to around 100 years in prison, no parole and that is a low estimate guess.

  2. 30 days is nothing to deter her, not at all. How many more animals will have to suffer and die before she gets a real sentence?

  3. Therdia REyneke says:

She should go on a animal registry and NEVER be alliwed to have any animals again! She is a sick piece of shit!

  4. WOW…………..30 DAYS IS NOT ENOUGH TIME FOR WHAT THIS MONSTER DID BUT IT IS A START.

RIP POOR ANIMALS THAT DIED IN SUCH HORRIFIC AND CRUEL CIRCUMSTANCES.WE THE PUBLIC DEMAND SEVERE PUNISHMENT THAT IS ENFORCED AND 30 DAYS IS NOT ENOUGH FOR THE ABUSE AND TORTURE THESE ANIMALS ENDURED!!

  5. Sorry – token penalty only. The PA shred away from imposing the most severe penalty – why? I’m not thanking an arsehole like that for his inaction. Needs to go to law school and be re-educated, esp in what the community wants in sentencing of criminal als.

  6. Barbara Burns says:

SOFT PUNISHMENT IS UNACCEPTABLE AND ENABLING! BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR SUFFERING AND DEATH SHOULD HAVE HAD A GREATER IMPACT TO WARRANT PUNISHMENT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT. THERE ARE TOO MANY CASES THAT NEVER REALIZE DUE JUSTICE. IT IS APPARENT IN OUR SYSTEMS, THAT PERPETRATORS ARE GIVEN FAR GREATER SYMPATHY AND COMPASSION THAN THE UNFORTUNATE VICTIMS.

  7. Tania Connor says:

Not nearly long enough .backward evil bitch .

  8. 30 DAYS!!! What a JOKE!!!!

    • Quite agree- death penalty would be more appropriate. – wicked RETARD has no use on earth so why keep the subhuman. After the pathetic 30 days I hope Street Justice is served, the sort you don’t recover from

  9. Great! I am so glad that the Justice System worked!

  10. Kathy S Khoshfahm says:

Matt – Let me say that you are one in a million. It is about time that those people who torture and murder innocent animals be made to account for their crimes. Tougher animal cruelty laws are much needed, that is true, but right along with that is the need for Prosecutors willing to prosecute. On behalf of the Animal Kingdom, we thank you…
