Success: Groomer Who Killed Dog Given Jail Time

Target: Michael Mahoney, Assistant District Attorney for Forsyth County, Georgia

Goal: Praise the successful prosecution and punishment of the groomer who kicked and choked a dog to death.

A groomer has been convicted of aggravated cruelty to animals after she maliciously killed a dog. Her five-year sentence includes three years in jail and two years of probation. Thank the assistant district attorney for seeking the harshest penalty in this case, as advocated for in this ForceChange petition.

Mavel Blanco’s beloved dog, Meko, suffered fatal injuries after he was physically abused by Michelle Louise Root at the Paw’sh Paws dog grooming shop. Employees testified against Root, claiming that she had chased the dog, choked him with a grooming lead, and kicked him repeatedly. Meko’s necropsy reports showed injuries to his legs, abdomen, head, shoulder, neck, brain, and lungs. Those injuries were highly suggestive of malicious abuse and mistreatment.

In addition to jail time and probation, Root is prohibited from ever caring for or grooming any animal not owned by her. She is also banned from owning or living with animals during her two years of probation. Sign below to thank Assistant District Attorney Mahoney for his dedication to this case.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Assistant District Attorney Mahoney,

A groomer will serve jail time after she was convicted of aggravated cruelty to animals. She had a history of mistreating animals, her employees testified, and she was responsible for the death of one dog. I want to thank you for bringing justice to Meko.

Meko, a beloved pet and family member, died after he was physically abused at the Paw’sh Paws dog grooming shop. Employees testified that Michelle Louise Root chased Meko, choked him with a grooming lead, and kicked him repeatedly. Your hard work and dedication to Meko’s case convinced a jury to convict Root and influenced the judge to assign three years of jail time and two years of probation. Root is also prohibited from ever grooming any animal not owned by her, and she is banned from owning or living with animals during her probation.

Your successful prosecution of this case has made the world a safer place for animals. Thank you for fighting so hard to protect these innocent creatures.

Sincerely,
