Goal: Applaud guilty verdict for Illinois teen charged with torturing puppy and leaving him for dead.
Damien Ingram was found guilty of animal torture eight months after slashing a puppy’s throat and leaving him for dead. Ingram claimed that the animal was sick and he intended to ‘put him out of his misery;’ thankfully, the dog survived and has made a full recovery under the care of the Humane Society.
The dog had been slashed across the throat and back prior to being stuffed in a bag and left in a ditch. It is a miracle that the animal survived. Public outcry was immediate as vets and police called it it “one of the worst cases of animal abuse [they’ve] ever seen” and remarked on how it was “something you would never expect to see.” Petitions such as this one on ForceChange demanded justice for the innocent dog and immediate punishment for the teen.
It is a sad thing that animal cruelty continues to run rampant despite the best efforts to tighten the laws and enforce stronger punishments, but when one of those stronger punishments is enforced properly, it can still be considered a victory. Sign this petition to thank Illinois’ court for handing down the deserved verdict.

Eight months after mutilating a puppy and leaving him tied up in a bag to die in a ditch, Damien Ingram has finally been found guilty of animal torture and aggravated cruelty. Though the dog ultimately survived, vets and police called the incident “one of the worst cases of animal abuse [they’ve] ever seen.’
With animal abuse still running rampant, all guilty verdicts handed down to the abusers are welcome. It is sad that people continue to commit such acts despite the best efforts to put an end to it, but it is comforting to know that the justice system will do the right thing and punish the culprits as severely as they deserve. Thank you for helping to ensure that Ingram faces justice for his actions.

Agree – really he should be beaten til dead cos he is evil and wicked and should leave the planet, as ALL animal abusers should. Perhaps Animal Vigilantes can sort this???

The words “accused of” are too often used in these articles. If someone is doing these types of crimes against our earthly companions, it is most oftentimes that they go on to do the same to humans.

The cases of animal torture continue to rise. When are we as a society going to really punish these sadistic monsters?
I don’t think “the best efforts to tighten the laws and enforce stronger punishments” are actually being done. As others have wondered, what IS his exact sentence? If it’s NOT the maximum 8 years, it won’t be much of a deterrent, and as someone else said, even 8 years isn’t ENOUGH. Still glad the punk was caught and is facing “punishment,” but until we know what that punishment is, it’s hard to be jubilant or hopeful.
EXACTLY!! There have been other victories as far as the guilty verdict goes. The problem is it is not followed up with a sentence that fits the crime. Judges need to step up and show these sick people they will pay dearly for their crimes against animals! Until animal abusers understand we will not let them continue to hurt and murder animals, they will not stop. We need to push their punishment to the max and show them what is going to happen to them when we catch them. This world needs a wake up call. No more looking the other way while innocent animals live lives of pain and tortute at the hands of sick people that need to be locked up. We need to demand the punishments fit the crimes!!!
Thank you Lisa Madigan for showing the world that at least some people believe that animals should have rights and that anyone harming animals will suffer the consequences.

going to get? A slap on the wrist, maybe. Should be a minimum of ten years, with no early parole, in the most violent prison in America. And let it be known in prison by the other convicts what this worthless piece of shit did to end up in prison.
