The suspect allegedly abandoned the animals on a rented property, leaving them to starve over several weeks.
Two survivors were rescued and placed in intensive rehabilitation. One dog was reportedly found in life-threatening emaciation and has only recently begun gaining weight under professional care. The suspect faces 26 counts of animal cruelty.
Dogs left without food and water do not die quickly. They weaken and suffer over time. If these allegations are proven, prosecution must reflect the severity of the crime.
