Six Dogs Tortured and Killed for Dogfighting: Demand Arrest and Justice

Target: James W. Glasgow, State’s Attorney, Will County, Illinois

Goal: Bring those responsible for torturing and killing six dogs — whose bodies were discarded in trash bags — to justice with the full weight of the law.

Six dogs were tortured, killed, and dumped in garbage bags on the side of a road, their bodies discovered only by chance when highway workers unknowingly loaded the bags onto their truck. According to Will County officials, all six animals — each weighing roughly 50 pounds — showed signs consistent with involvement in dogfighting. Investigators believe the dogs were exploited for that purpose and discarded once they were no longer of use. The animals bore bite marks that pointed investigators toward organized dogfighting activity.

The crime scene was heavily wooded, and the area offered no surveillance footage to assist investigators. No person of interest has been identified, no uncontaminated evidence was preserved at the scene, and DNA samples taken had yet to yield a lead. Nevertheless, officials have stated that the case represents not merely an act of animal cruelty, but a serious public safety concern — noting well-established links between individuals who harm animals and those who go on to commit violence against people. A $5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest.

Research consistently demonstrates that cruelty to animals is a predictor of broader violent behavior. The killing of six dogs —used for fighting and then discarded like refuse — demands a vigorous investigation and, ultimately, serious criminal consequences. Sign below and demand the Will County State’s Attorney commit the full resources of his office to identifying and prosecuting those responsible for this act of mass animal cruelty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney Glasgow,

We are deeply troubled by the torture and killing of six dogs whose bodies were discovered stuffed inside trash bags near a wooded road in Crete Township. The animals — all approximately 50-pound pit bulls — bore bite marks consistent with dogfighting, suggesting they were exploited for organized animal fighting before being killed and discarded.

We understand that the investigation has faced significant challenges, including the absent uncontaminated physical evidence and no surveillance footage. However, the gravity of this crime cannot be overstated. Your office has rightly noted that the level of violence involved in this case goes beyond animal cruelty and raises serious public safety concerns. We urge you to dedicate every available resource to identifying and apprehending those responsible.

We call on your office to pursue the strongest possible charges against whoever is ultimately found to be responsible for this mass killing, and to treat this case with the same urgency as any violent crime. These six dogs suffered terribly. They deserve justice.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
