Demand Justice for Horses Allegedly Starved by Owners

Target: State Attorney Bill Gladson, Marion County, Florida

Goal: Prosecute individuals allegedly responsible for neglecting and starving two horses to the fullest extent of the law.

In Weirsdale, Florida, a couple has been arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty after authorities reportedly found their two horses, Nitro and Layla, severely underweight and in poor health. Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation following an anonymous complaint about animal neglect on the property.

Upon visiting the residence, deputies allegedly observed that the horses were significantly underweight. Layla was also reportedly suffering from overgrown hooves and open wounds. The barns were allegedly unclean, filled with manure, and the pasture lacked nutritious vegetation, consisting mostly of weeds.

The owners reportedly admitted to struggling financially and being unable to afford veterinary care for the animals. Despite previous visits and warnings from authorities, the situation allegedly did not improve, leading to the seizure of the horses. A veterinarian evaluated Nitro and Layla, finding them to be in poor bodily condition, with Layla scoring a “two” and Nitro a “three” on a scale where one is emaciated and nine is morbidly obese.

It is crucial that those allegedly responsible are held accountable to prevent future incidents of animal cruelty. Send a clear message that neglecting and mistreating animals will not be tolerated.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear State Attorney Gladson,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent case in Weirsdale where two horses, Nitro and Layla, were allegedly neglected and starved by their owners. Reports indicate that the horses were found severely underweight, with inadequate access to food, water, and proper shelter. Layla was also reportedly suffering from overgrown hooves and open wounds, further indicating a lack of necessary care.

Despite previous interventions by authorities, the owners allegedly failed to improve the conditions for these animals, resulting in prolonged suffering. Such apparent neglect not only violates animal welfare laws but also reflects a serious disregard for the well-being of sentient creatures entrusted to their care.

I urge you to prosecute the individuals involved to the fullest extent of the law. By taking decisive legal action, you will send a strong message that animal cruelty and neglect are unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our community. Ensuring justice in this case will help protect other animals from similar harm and uphold the standards of humane treatment that our society expects.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
