Puppies Reportedly Locked in Freezer at Breeding Facility Deserve Justice

Target: Jane Howlett, Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Tasmania

Goal: Strengthen animal welfare enforcement to prevent severe cruelty and protect animals from abuse.

Animal welfare advocates in Tasmania are urgently calling for tougher animal protection laws following distressing reports of severe cruelty. Former workers at a now-closed puppy breeding facility have alleged inhumane practices including over-breeding, physical abuse of dogs, deceit of buyers, and being asked to place live puppies in freezers. Additionally, suspicions of extreme mistreatment at a local abattoir have raised serious concerns about the effectiveness of current legislation.

Kristy Alger, an animal welfare advocate, has campaigned for legislative changes for eight years. She recalls witnessing a dairy cow at Gretna Meatworks in 2016 suffering prolonged pain due to inadequate slaughtering practices. The cow, no longer productive in milk, was reportedly left with a broken leg, subjected to multiple failed stunning attempts, and improperly slaughtered.

Despite existing animal welfare laws that should prevent such incidents, advocates argue that enforcement is lacking, and the legislation does not effectively deter inhumane practices. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) Tasmania has expressed anticipation for the release of the draft Dog Regulations Discussion Paper, which aims to address these critical issues.

All these disturbing accusations highlight significant gaps in animal welfare protections and the urgent need for legislative reform. Take action now.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Minister Jane Howlett,

I am writing to express deep concern over recent reports of severe animal cruelty in Tasmania, including allegations from former workers at a closed puppy breeding facility and accounts of inhumane treatment at an abattoir. These distressing incidents suggest that current animal welfare laws are insufficient in preventing abuse and ensuring the humane treatment of animals.

Despite existing legislation intended to protect animals, the reported recurrence of such cruel practices indicates a lack of effective enforcement and deterrence. Animals continue to suffer unnecessarily due to gaps in the law and inadequate oversight. Strengthening animal welfare legislation and its enforcement is crucial to prevent further instances of abuse and to promote ethical treatment.

I urge you to take immediate action to enhance the legal protections for animals in Tasmania. This includes implementing stricter regulations, increasing penalties for violations, and ensuring robust enforcement mechanisms. By doing so, you will help safeguard the well-being of animals and reflect the community’s expectation for humane and ethical treatment.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. Shame, shame shame on this country

  2. this country sucks always animal abuse

  3. So what happened to those poor puppies? Did they survive that horror, or not? I do wish these protests would give the whole story.

I’m sure someone, somewhere, will suggest the perpatrators are themselves locked in a freezer. Personally I’d incarcerate them with animal-loving members of the underworld.

  4. Writing to a minister for industries and water about dog and puppy abuse. Does that mean the cows have the same protection as pets or that there is no real protection for either. That ‘Breeder’ needs locking up and the slaughter house needs closing.

  5. Let’s put these vile humans in freezers – lock them in.

  6. A little return the favor would soon stop all this horrific behavior!

  7. ALL THESE CRUEL & ABUSIVE JACKASSES DESERVES TO BE PUT IN A DEEP FREEZER AND NEVER LET OUT!! A DEAD CRUEL & ABUSIVE ASSHOLE IS BETTER THAN A living one!

The torture that these puppies endured at this breeding facility is unfathomable. These humans do not deserve to take another breath. These greedy bastards over-bred, placed these sweet little puppies in a FREEZER ALIVE!!
As well as the torture a little cow suffered at the hands of monsters at Gretna Meatworks. SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN! Hold everyone that had any part in this little cow’s torture ACCOUNTABLE!!

ENHANCE AND ENFORCE YOUR animal welfare laws to the maximum!!! DO LET ANOTHER ANIMAL SUFFER AT THE HANDS OF THESE GREEDY, HEARTLESS, EVIL BASTARDS! YOU MUST PROTECT YOUR INNOCENT ANIMALS AGAINST ALL EVIL!!

  14. DEATH PENALTY FOR ABUSERS!

  15. They should be charged with murder not just cruelty.

  16. Melinda Maddox says:

Anybody that’s got a puppy meal needs to be shut down these people are horrible horrible horrible horrible I can’t say it enough. This country needs to take a grip on the way. These people are treating animals that have no say in where they are.
And for the poor cow in this story, those people want to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and I would think that facility needs to be shut down. How can people be so mentally disturbed that they have to take all their inhibitions out on animals?😡😡😡😡

    • Because the bastards enjoy what they do that’s why!! These pieces of shite need a public beating to within an inch of their pathetic lives! Garbage like this should not be allowed to live.
Prosecute to the fullest extent of the law many submitters say!, but there is NO FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW!!! Because it does NOT exist! These shit ‘perps’ just laugh at it as the turds know nothing will happen to them! It makes one wonder if these Judges, prosecutors and lawyers etc are in cahoots with these animal torturing and murdering sods as nothing ever seems to happen to them!! These sub- humans must be taken out and I am very sure that there are very many people ( including myself ) who could dish this out without any guilty feelings afterwards.
It has to be said that STREET JUSTICE ‘is’ the ONLY WAY these nasty animal torturing sods will be stopped! Mob rule has worked for situations over the years so no reason why it cannot work again! I am quite sure that this IS going to happen soon to rid the world of these sub- human pieces of crap!
