Man Accused of Beating His Dog to Death Must Face Maximum Penalties

Target: Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey, California

Goal: Ensure justice for a dog allegedly beaten to death and advocate for stricter enforcement of animal cruelty laws.

A shocking case of animal cruelty has surfaced in Oroville, California, where 57-year-old Shane Eugene Rushing is accused of beating his dog, Rex, to death with a large stick. Witnesses reported Rushing repeatedly striking Rex on a sidewalk in the 2700 block of Oro Dam Boulevard East. Despite Rex’s desperate attempts to escape, he was tied to Rushing’s wheelchair and could not flee. Witnesses reported that Rushing continued to beat the dog even after Rex collapsed lifeless on the ground.

When officers from the Oroville Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Rex dead on the sidewalk. Rushing apparently told police that he had struck Rex after the dog allegedly bit him while he was trying to administer heartworm medication. Rushing, who has prior felony convictions, now faces serious charges of animal abuse. Make sure that justice is served.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Mike Ramsey,

I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent case of alleged animal cruelty in Oroville, where Shane Eugene Rushing is accused of beating his dog, Rex, to death. This horrific act, witnessed by several bystanders, highlights the need for justice to be served in cases of severe animal abuse. Rex was reportedly tied to Rushing’s wheelchair, leaving him unable to escape while he was repeatedly struck with a large stick.

This level of cruelty is deeply disturbing, and it is critical that Rushing faces the maximum legal penalties if found guilty. Animal abuse is not only an affront to the humane treatment of animals but also a serious crime that deserves to be met with strong consequences.

As the District Attorney, I urge you to seek the maximum penalties allowed under the law for this case of animal cruelty. Ensuring that those responsible for such acts are held accountable will send a powerful message that animal abuse will not be tolerated in our community.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. what an awful human being. I hope he rots in jail. If the dog bit him I’m sure he deserved it. Probably abused that poor dog for a long time before the dog had enough. Shame he was tied and couldn’t escape once he took his bite. Sad that people who witnessed this didn’t just take the stick away and save this dog. Since he was in a wheelchair I should think that overpowering him would have been easy to do.

  2. where were the people watching this piece of shit, you mean to tell me no one was capable of grabbing that stick and smacking him in the head with it instead. instead they just stood there and watched this scumbag beat this dog to death. someone should push him down a flight of stairs strapped in his chair. goes to show you what pieces of shit people are regardless of the circumstance.

    • EXACTLY, Louis. Why didn’t somebody just tip this scumbag out of his wheelchair and rescue the poor dog??

    • seriously, not one bystander thought to protect the dog from being REPEATEDLY beaten by a POS in a wheelchair? They couldn’t have pushed or pulled the chair from behind and stopped him? How long did they just stare and watch doing nothing while that poor dog was dying in agony? Agree that the abusive asshole deserves retribution, and those witnesses are just a bunch of negligent idiot trash.

  3. Elizabeth Cyran says:

why didn’t the people who saw this stop it?

  4. So… not one person intervened? If I was there I would have taken the stick from him and whacked him a few times before dialing 911… for the dog.

  5. Kill the bastard,death penalty!
    Justice for Rex,+RIP
