Goal: Investigate circumstances related to reported shooting of two dogs by deputies.
Body cam footage appearing to show the fatal shooting of two pet dogs has stirred controversy in Washington. Three Rottweilers had apparently escaped from a residence after a door was left open. When the animals were spotted in the neighborhood, authorities were called. Witnesses had seemingly not reported that the dogs were behaving in an aggressive manner. Yet, when the animals were discovered in an empty field by officers, deputies allegedly shot and killed two of the dogs.
The incident provoked outrage for a couple of reasons. For one, the dogs were seemingly shot from about 50 yards away, and the video footage apparently does not demonstrate the dogs posed an immediate threat to the officers. And when the shootings occurred, one of the officers allegedly laughed about the incident and congratulated the officer who had done the shooting. Full, unedited footage has yet to be released, despite the pleas of the dogs’ caretaker.

The proposed amendments to animal control guidelines are a positive and necessary step. But the incident that compelled this correction–the reported fatal shooting of two dogs by police officers—still needs to be addressed. Members of the public are questioning the actions of involved officers and the level of threat posed by the deceased dogs.
The best defense is transparency. Refusal to release full and unedited body cam footage creates distrust and suspicion. Please show good faith to the concerned citizens you serve by releasing this footage and putting this volatile matter to rest.

Why would anyone laugh about killing any animal, especially someone’s dog? So inappropriate. There should be disciplinary measures taken. This is horrible. To whoever called the police, didn’t they know that the neighbor had 3 Rottweilers? I mean that’s hard to miss. Just collect them up and take them home or call the neighbor and tell them.
The worst part is the courts are trying to pass laws to protect these officers that think it’s funny to shoot our pets

Why did these bloody cops murder the dogs? You want to know why?? I’ll tell you why—-because these gun- happy bastard cops know they can get away with ‘dog murdering’ and because the smug pieces of shit enjoy it. The useless law soon gets off of its arse when it comes to protecting their own. So killing innocent animals for no apparent reason seems to be the norm as the bastards are HIDING BEHIND THEIR BADGES and know they will only get a ‘naughty boys’ reprimand and that is it.
I have said this before but if these had been my dogs and apparently were causing no threat as they had not long escaped, these pissant cops would be counting their days left on this planet and fuck the consequences.

And there are a ton of people out there that think cops are their friends. Maybe the guy that owned the dogs that got killed by the cops thought the same thing. If he did, I bet he has changed his mind after what happened to his dogs. If this guy ever sees a cop on the side of the road in a critical condition, you think he will stop to help the cop? I’m so sorry these two apparently innocent dogs were shot to death by police officers. They appear to be trigger happy and didn’t stop to investigate whether these dogs were a threat or not. They didn’t seem to care because at least one of them laughed. These officers need to be punished. RIP fur babies and I hope you get justice.
