Reported Sexual Abuse of Dog by Inmates Must be Punished

Target: Samuel Prawer, Director of Government Affairs for the Department of Corrections, USA

Goal: Ensure accountability and enhance animal welfare standards in correctional facilities

Shocking allegations have emerged from the Maine State Prison, involving the alleged sexual abuse of a dog by inmates. This horrifying claim brings to light not only the alleged mistreatment of an innocent animal but also raises serious questions about the oversight and ethical management within correctional facilities. According to reports, two inmates are believed to be involved in this egregious act, pointing to a grievous lapse in the prison’s duty to protect all living beings within its walls.

Further details reveal the Maine Department of Corrections’ response, initiating an investigation into these serious allegations. Samuel Prawer, Director of Government Affairs, highlighted the department’s commitment to addressing this issue, though specifics, including the existence of any video evidence, remain undisclosed. This incident allegedly occurred within the context of the Earned Living Unit, a program presumably designed to promote rehabilitation and responsibility among inmates.

The necessity for a stringent review of animal welfare policies in correctional institutions has never been clearer. Enhancing oversight, ensuring accountability for those found responsible, and instituting rigorous animal welfare standards are imperative. Hold individuals accountable for their actions, reevaluate the Earned Living Unit’s policies, and safeguard against future occurrences of alleged abuse.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Director Samuel Prawer,

We write to you amidst disturbing allegations surfacing from within the Maine State Prison, where a dog was reportedly subjected to sexual abuse by inmates. Such allegations, if true, not only expose a horrifying act of cruelty but also underscore a significant failure in safeguarding the welfare of animals entrusted to the care of the correctional system. This incident, reportedly involving two inmates and one dog within the Earned Living Unit, has understandably shocked and appalled all who advocate for the humane treatment of animals.

The Maine Department of Corrections has commenced an investigation, a step we acknowledge. However, this alone is insufficient. We urge a comprehensive review and overhaul of policies regarding animals in correctional facilities to prevent any recurrence of such alleged acts. The purported lapse in oversight that allowed this alleged abuse demands immediate and decisive action to ensure those responsible are held accountable and measures are implemented to enhance the protection of all animals within the system.

Our call to action is unequivocal: instigate thorough policy reforms, enforce stringent animal welfare standards, and ensure transparency in the investigation’s outcomes. Let this unfortunate episode serve as a catalyst for positive change, affirming the Maine Department of Corrections’ commitment to the highest standards of care and responsibility for all lives within its purview.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. How come these “inmates” had access to the poor dog in the first place?? Proof, if proof were needed, that prisoners pretty much do as they like in these so called prisons. Prison should be somewhere so awful that no one would ever want to go back but they’re falling over themselves to commit some crime or another in order to go back. Says a lot about the “punishment” of prison, doesn’t it??

    • Hi Cecily – there are rehab programs that have been quite successful wherein inmates are trained to train dogs; usually from local shelters, to both help the inmates learn transferrable skills and support the shelters in receiving services that helps to prepare dogs for adoption. There have been studies about the effectiveness in a rehabilitative aspect for program participants (keeping in mind, a main goal of incarceration is rehabilitation not punishment alone – given that most ppl will return to the community one day, we want them to be returning in a healthier state). That said, it would appear as though the alleged perpetrators involved in this heinous act are neither serious about rehabilitation nor appropriate for this sort of opportunity. This should result in a serious investigation and if founded guilty, additional charges against the offenders including loss of “good time”. Also raises substantial questions about the level of supervision occurring in this particular facility and should trigger a federal audit, in my opinion.

      • Well then this right here should make you change system it’s on you all this happened to this poor dog your just as dam sick as they are.

      • I agree that prison in some cases should be be a place of rehabilitation, depending on the crime committed in the first place, but it should also be a punishment and the fact that some criminals repeatedly reoffend and get back there says a lot about the punishment not working! Also if animals are to be used to help rehabilitate prisoners they should NEVER be left alone with the animal. As you rightly say, it raises questions about the level of supervision. It also makes me wonder if any of those supposedly in charge were involved in this vile abuse….wouldn’t surprise me.

      • What I don’t understand is why this dog or dogs were given to these bloody prisoners at all.
There are bound to be seriously demented pieces of crap in these establishments who would ‘shag‘ a piece of wood with a ‘knothole’ in it so it is obvious a dog or any animal would stand no chance whatsoever!!
And do not tell me that the prison wardens did not know what was going on!
These bastards are in jail for one reason only. And that is because they are BASTARDS who do not deserve to be living anyway.
I mean, why should normal people be paying for these arseholes to be kept in comfort. And what idiotic pricks decided that an animal would help them.
Well yes it would as their diseased minds would immediately be thinking derogatory thoughts as to what atrocities they could perform on an innocent animal.
These bastards have no business being kept alive. The system will NEVER be reformed as their demented minds will always remain deceased!
And as said by Aurora above, do you actually think that loosing their good time for punishment will bother these bastards. They could not give a shit as they think they are above the law.
The fuckers who did this should be given a very severe lesson such as having their bollocks smashed with a nice hard mallet or such but then would be against the bastards human rights. Although these pieces if shit do not have any as they should be forfeited on admittance to jail. Better still, so-called prisons are just holding places for these hard case scum and a good suggestion I feel would be to terminate ALL of these ‘waste of space’ demented bastards as they will NEVER be any use to society and will NEVER be reformed.
Clear the word of these useless pricks and it may just start to become a better place!
P.S. The idiots who introduced animals into prisons for therapy should be thrown to these deceased minded inmates and let the ‘sikko’s use them for their nasty disgusting pleasure instead of innocent the animals!!! Absolute stupidity but there you go! That’s the Justice system for you!!! IT STINKS!!!
        J,W.

  2. What imbecile pervert official put these two rapists in this feeble program? Must be sacked and his pension seized and donated to animal charity, for being abetting sex crime. Isnt the world a lovely place now? Just gets better every day! Not. These articles are of no use to society and the world is overpopulated anyway, lets just cull them, screw rehab BS; all that does is keep putting everyone and everything at more risk. They dont reform! They like being depraved! No scheme will change that. Take them out and serve the rights of the innocent for a bloody change

  3. I don’t care if these are therapy dogs to help inmates, they MUST be watched by someone all the time with their interaction with these service dogs, OR DO NOT HAVE ANIMALS accessible to inmates!!! WTF were you thinking??!!

  4. Sherry Akridge says:

Take ALL animals out of the prison system! I don’t understand how this can even take place. You are just throwing an animal into a dangerous situation. No prisoner should have the right to train a dog for anything. There are many other jobs that prisoners could do, without having access to an animal.
NO ANIMALS IN THE PRISON SYSTEM! What are you people in charge thinking?

    • Yes I agree prisoners should work in a coal mine or shipped to Russia’s gulag !
They are not changing waste of time and tax payers money!

      • Exactly right. These pricks will NEVER change and obviously had evil genes from birth.
I know it will never happen but a nice polished ‘bullet’ to the back of these demented buggers heads would solve the problem of prison overcrowding! The other problem is, I would think there are more prisons world wide than there are ‘Mc Donald’s ‘ takeaways!!!
        J.W.

    • How the hell can a warped minded prisoner train a dog?? They have no experience whatsoever so what an idiotic assumption!
The only way these pricks would make an animal do what it was expected to do would be to punish it into submission. And what are the scumbags supposedly trying to train it for? To do what??? Most of these prisoners have very short fuses and would not have the patience to cope with a dogs learning abilities. Which, would resort to punishment for not fully understanding what it was meant to do!
Whoever devised this method is just (or almost) as bad as these sick minded prisoners. Just giving them something to play with at the unfortunate animals expense. Absolute bunkum!!!
      J.W.

  5. This is so DISGUSTING. I am utterly appalled and I pray these individuals get a lot more time added on to their sentences. Please remove all animals from this facility immediately.

  6. Alejandra Parapar says:

Samuel Prawer is responsible for this dog’s safety and well being. This defenseless dog was there to help rehabilitate inmates and he got screwed, who knows how many times and by how many inmates. Unpardonable. Charge Samuel Prawer with animal cruelty as well as everyone down the organizational chart up to the prison guard directly responsible for the dog’s safety. Any expenses for the dog’s recuperation must be paid by those negligent of their responsibilities and not by the taxpayers.

  7. Irene Leggett says:

I don’t think these ‘prisoners’ need therapy dogs, I think they want the death penalty instead as obviously they are a threat to society and should be eliminated anyway.

  8. This prison needs to be thoroughly investigated and subject to strict scrutinies at all times to ensure that no animals are harmed or abused within the facility. As for those sick inmates they can have orgies among themselves nobody cares so long as no animals are being harmed or exploited! Give 3 strokes of the cane each for animal cruelty and disrespecting the helpless dog and the law! Also, keep these perverts in prison for the longest time, they do not deserve to be freed!

  9. Remove the dog and any prisoners who did not participate this heinous crime. Once removed, lock all doors and windows and set fire to the prison with no possibility of escape for the rapists.

    • I totally agree I totally agree remove the dogs immediately and as far as these two that did this egregious thing to that poured on I think all appendages need to be removed immediately

  10. Laura Rolder says:

Those prisoners showed they cannot be rehabilitate put them back behind the prison walls and out of the earn privilege area. They are evil sick monsters and change them with felony animal abuse charges. They should never be set free. Shame on the prison system for failing this poor helpless dog who should have been protected at all times.

  11. cut these bastards hands off

  12. These Prison Dog programs are by and large wonderful, for both the inmates and the dogs. I know of and follow several very successful programs across the country. These successful programs have very strict protocols and are actually hard for inmates to get into. They must have a great prison record. And, the prisons themselves are held to strict standards and must have exemplary standards and protocols in place. Also, they work in conjunction with very reputable rescue organizations. The first to come to mind is the Marley’s Mutts prison program in California. This one in my opinion has failed miserably. A horrific act such as this should NEVER have taken place by one inmate, let alone two. That poor, poor, dog.

    • You state that prisoners must have an exemplary prison record and the programs are very strict!!
So— HOW DID THESE ‘PSYCHOTIC’ DISEASED MINDED BUGGERS END UP WITH AN INNOCENT DOG IN THE FIRST PLACE??
These two motherfucks deserved to be terminated after this heinous and disgusting act as a severe warning to others!!
These so-called ‘programs’ need to be stopped as other incarcerated pieces of shite would maybe get the same idea!!
The prisons are full because these tossers will NEVER change
as they were obviously born with ‘twisted’ genes!
I know what almost everyone here ( myself included) would like to do to these arrogant sick minded sods!!
But as normal, the useless ‘fart’ of the so-called law will protect these bastards and nothing will happen. Just brushed under the carpet. It would be good to hope that these scum could be dealt with by animal loving inmates (should say prisoners) as that is what they are!
So if I dare to say this, POWER to any of these who feel the same and who can severely teach these two buggers the error of their ways!!
      J,W.

  13. Christine Grabar says:

This is sickening to me because these inmates are supposed to be caring for cats and dogs in this special program that prisons have for rehabilitating fur babies. The sad thing is many prisoners love animals, but then you have sick people like these guys who obviously are just cruel. I strongly agree they should immediately pull all animals from that prison in Maine.

Those two monsters should stay in prison longer.

  14. PLEASE!!!!!! HOW IS THE POOR DOG?????
WHERE IS THE DOG NOW AND HOW IS IT DOING????

  15. ENOUGH OF TRYING TO HELP INMATES REHABILITATE. THIS POOR THERAPY DOG DIDN’T DESERVE SUCH A HEINOUS ACT OF ABUSE. MAYBE FOR THOSE THAT RAPED THIS DOG THEY SHOULD BE CASTRATED. JUSTICE FOR THE THERAPY DOG AND PUNISHMENT FOR THE CRIMINAL.

  16. Pamela Chattergoon says:

It’s another case of inmates running the asylum/prison. Animals must not be in this situation unless they can be under constant supervision.

  17. Cut off their penis, including those officers who allowed this to happen. Period.

  18. This makes me so sick to my stomach! The poor dog never volunteered to be in this program. Please remove all animals from prisoners. There’s no way to tell if a dog is safe. No one in the prison is monitoring and obviously they don’t care if they abuse humans in prison. Please punish these sick monsters and never allow prisons to have acces to innocent animals.

    Poor dogs!!!

  19. Satanic creatures , may they burn in Hell for what they did to that innocent dog!!!

  20. Stop subjecting animals to prisons!!!!!!!
