Goal: Seek harshest legal punishment and mental health treatment for the man accused of stabbing a family’s dog to death.
While a North Carolina woman was playing pickleball at an Asheville park, her 11-year-old dog was allegedly stabbed repeatedly to the point of death. Liesbeth Mackie had secured her mixed-breed dog named Beignet on a leash at the park when this alleged incident occurred. While in the middle of a pickleball game, Mackie’s partner, Eric Hulin, reportedly witnessed the dog being attacked. This apparent crime was quickly investigated by the Asheville Police Department.
The suspect was later revealed to be a man, 43, named James Wesley Henry. Prior to attacking Beignet, witnesses reported Henry had been yelling bitterly at himself and acting unruly. Although his actions had room for concern, he had kept to himself before allegedly approaching and killing Beignet. After the alleged attack, Henry casually walked away with witnesses following at a safe distance. He did not fight police when they arrived at the scene and arrested him. He has been charged with felony cruelty to animals and is currently in the Buncombe County Detention Facility on a $10,000 bond. This apparent attack poses questions regarding Asheville’s safety as an innocent animal lost his life in complete daylight. Beignet deserves justice, and the only way to do this is to give Henry the highest sentence for his charge if found guilty.
Beignet and his owners had no correlation to the suspect, and his alleged actions went unprovoked. Beignet suffered a painful death and his family is now in shambles based on this apparent incident. Sign below and demand officials give Henry mental health treatment as well as the highest sentence for his charges, if found guilty, and that they do what they can to ensure safety throughout the county.

An innocent family dog reportedly lost his life at the hands of a gruesome stabbing. This is a terrifying situation for witnesses to be present for, and poor Beignet, the 11-year-old pup who was reportedly the victim of this crime, endured a painful death that he did not deserve. The dog’s family now has to grieve over their beloved pet while trying to emotionally cope with the apparent crime. This cannot be repeated, and Beignet deserves full justice.
Please ensure that the suspect is sentenced with maximum jail time, if found guilty, and provided with mental health treatment if deemed necessary. This seemingly heart wrenching crime needs to be prevented from happening again, and the victim cannot have lost his life for nothing. Make sure to ensure safety for all, humans and animals alike, throughout Buncombe County. Send a message about animal cruelty to bring some semblance of justice in this case. How far Away was the dog to the Owner? Him being on the Leash trapped him from Any Escape. If not that Mental Monster, another loose Dog could have attacked him. No amount of therapy will ever fix these kinds of people. Our jails are overcrowded, so that’s not a solution. Lets drop all animal/children abusers on a deserted island and leave them to fend for themselves. They’ll have to resort to eating each other. Fine with me!

IF this man is genuinely mentally ill…and I say IF….then why is he not in some kind of Mental Hospital, as we used to call them???Or have all these places in the USA been closed down like here in the UK, where some idiot came up with the idea of “Care in the Community” whereby many of these people were taken in by random householders in return for money!! It worked a treat, of course!! (I DON’T THINK!) Now all these hospitals have disappeared or been turned into flats or housing so there is nowhere to house the GENUINELY mentally ill. We have psych wards here. They don’t keep people forever, though, only until they’re “stabilized.” I’m sure this monster has been “stabilized” before, but once he was free decided that he didn’t like taking his meds. People like him need to be locked away and supervised for the rest of their days.

My sincere condolences to this family as it is something that they are never going to forget!
I am nowhere near as active as I used to be but to mention, if this had been ‘my’ dog, this fucker would seriously be a ‘dead man walking’ although he would not be aware of it!
A good despatch method as the police term would be, ‘blunt force trauma’.
In layman’s terms a really good smash on the back of the bastards head with, I believe I mentioned before, a nice solid boxwood mallet!

Although Beignet’s death was horrible and tragic, her attacker was obviously mentally ill, therefore, I don’t believe he should be punished the same way as someone in their right mind.

This case is devastating. You go to the park to enjoy the outdoors and bring your dog with you. Then some sick dog murderer attacks and kills your dog. That is not only horrifying for the dog owners but I guarantee you that they will never forget this and will be traumatized from this experience and loss. Let us hope no leniency is given to the murder suspect. So sad that an innocent dog was brutally killed by a heartless bastard.
This senseless horrific attack and murder of an innocent senior dog was completely unprovoked, and is a sign of a psychopath, with absolutely no respect for life! The psychopathic monster is a danger to both animals and humans,and deserves the same he did to poor Beignet!
