Target: Mr. Joseph T. Corradino, State’s Attorney for Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States
Goal: Ensure a thorough investigation into the case of animal cruelty involving the alleged hoarding and death of multiple cats.
A tragic and deeply distressing incident of animal cruelty has surfaced in Stratford, Connecticut. Paula Rhea Wintjen, a 72-year-old woman, has been accused of hoarding a significant number of cats in her apartment, all of which were later discovered dead. This horrifying act of alleged cruelty has shocked and saddened the community, highlighting the urgent need for justice and accountability.
The charges filed against Paula Rhea Wintjen, consisting of 19 felony counts of cruelty to animals, signify the extent of the tragedy and the gravity of the alleged offenses. Each count represents one of the deceased cats found inside the residence.
The alarming details provided by witnesses and neighbors paint a picture of alleged neglect and abuse. Reports allege that Wintjen would sporadically visit the apartment, depositing large quantities of cat food, and then leave, effectively trapping the cats inside without proper care or attention. It is further alleged that she would capture additional cats from the town and introduce them into the already crowded and unsuitable living conditions. Demand immediate justice.

Animal abusers require instigation f the death penalty and nothing less.
The death penalty is the only solution to any type of animal abuse. I don’t give a shit about what mental problems these idiots claim they have – don’t give a shit about them at all but definitely care about all animals. We need to stop this horrible abuse and there is only one way – so the sooner the better for all animals in this pathetic world we live in or exist in I guess.
DETEST FUCKING HOARDERS!!
I SO agree with you Cathy….just execute these people, preferably in the same manner and with as much suffering as their victims endured.
I’ve been signing petitions against the most heinous animal abuse perpetrators most of this day and I’m FURIOUS that the arrogance of many courts continue to protect the most dangerous among us. Your Honor, if you don’t prosecute Wintjen as the sadistic killer that she is, you are dishonoring your community, and the most vulnerable among you. THE PEOPLE WHO COMMIT THIS CRIME ARE CRIMINALS – LOCK HER UP AS A FELON AND NEVER ALLOW HER NEAR ANOTHER ANIMAL FOR THE DURATION OF HER DAYS.
This garbage should not be walking the streets.
I am surprised that neighbors did not complain about the smell of all the pee & feces from the cats! This is a very sad & horrible situation. Clearly the abuser needs mental & moral conditioning and ought never be allowed near any animal.
I actually was her neighbor and complaints were made daily , it wasn’t until months later they actually investigated because we had gotten with the other tenants to call and complain as well. She would stop by once a month and bring a giant bag of cat food and would leave within 5 minutes. This woman is the epitome of trash. The smell was atrocious there was a kitten that had died on the windowsill and melted into a puddle. I looked her up and she had done the same thing in other states hoarding 80+ cats.
