Stop Whipping Racehorses in the Name of Sport

Target: Ms. Annastacia Palaszczuk, Premier of Queensland, Australia

Goal: Ban the use of whips in horse racing to promote animal welfare and prevent animal cruelty.

Whips have been a traditional tool used by jockeys in horse racing to make the horses run faster. However, it is a common belief that the use of whips causes harm and pain to the horses, leading to animal welfare concerns. The repetitive and unnecessary use of whips on horses can cause physical injuries, including bruising, inflammation, and even broken skin.

The use of whips in horse racing is also against the principles of fair play, as it gives an unfair advantage to jockeys who use them, and this is not in line with the spirit of the sport. In addition, the use of whips can lead to public perception issues, as it can be seen as cruel and inhumane to animals, which can negatively impact the reputation of the sport and the industry.

The welfare of horses is compromised by the use of whips, causing pain and injury. A ban on them would elevate the racing industry’s integrity and promote animal welfare, attracting a wider audience. Urgent action is required to safeguard the horses’ welfare and ensure the sustainability of horse racing.

Through the ban of whips, we can promote animal welfare, prevent cruelty towards horses, and ensure the integrity of horse racing. Demand action immediately.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Premier Palaszczuk,

I am writing to urge you to advocate for the ban of whips in horse racing to promote animal welfare and prevent cruelty towards horses in Queensland. The use of whips in horse racing is a practice that has long been a source of concern for animal welfare advocates and the general public.

The repetitive and unnecessary use of whips on horses can cause physical harm, pain, and distress to the animals. This is not in line with the principles of fair play and the spirit of the sport. The use of whips can also lead to public perception issues, as it can be seen as cruel and inhumane to animals, which can negatively impact the reputation of the sport and the industry.

To address this issue, we must take action to ban the use of whips in horse racing. This will not only promote animal welfare but also enhance the fairness and integrity of the sport. The ban of whips would show the world that Queensland is a leader in animal welfare and committed to protecting the welfare of horses.

We urge you to take immediate action and support the ban of whips in horse racing to promote animal welfare, prevent cruelty towards horses, and ensure the integrity of horse racing.

Sincerely,
