Turkeys Reportedly Stomped and Beaten to Death Deserve Justice

Target: Lina Khan, Chair of Federal Trade Commission

Goal: Investigate turkey farm for possibly lying to consumers about humane and ethical treatment of animals.

A turkey is given a “pardon” every year for Thanksgiving, but thousands of the animals will not be so lucky. Video evidence obtained on a Pennsylvania farm allegedly shows in stark detail just how brutal the end may be for some turkeys raised for slaughter. In the footage, the animals appear to be beaten, stomped, kicked, violently shaken, clubbed, and nearly have their necks snapped. So far, 11 workers have been charged with cruelty. But the organization for which the employees worked—which uses terms like “humanely raised” and “animal welfare-certified” to describe its product—is still operating unchecked.

Plainville Farms provides turkeys to prominent grocery chains and is responsible for the output of roughly 90 million pounds of the poultry yearly. An undercover investigation by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) yielded the disturbing accusations, and the reported cruelty allegedly took place in several counties. While at least one retailer has stopped selling the meat and charges were finally filed after months of public pressure, PETA believes more action should be taken. They are calling on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to launch its own investigation into this producer for potentially misleading consumers.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chair Khan,

“Every night, at every farm the crews worked at, these men threw turkeys, viciously kicked and stomped on them, and killed them in the most rampant, top-to-bottom display of cruelty to farmed animals we’ve ever seen.” A spokesperson for PETA released this statement in regards to the organization’s undercover investigation of Plainville Farms. Over 100 cruelty charges have since been filed in association with the case.

Now, the root source of this alleged widespread abuse needs to be held accountable. PETA has implored the FTC to investigate this farm that appears to be misleading consumers with false claims about “humanely raised” animals living in a “stress-free environment.” Please take these entreaties to heart.

Look out for consumers and, more importantly, for the living beings at risk of inhumane and callous treatment.

Sincerely,

  1. Even though we eat animals, they deserve to life humanely and peacefully in life and die the same way. Do the same to those that have been arrested and make sure they know how it feels. Animals have feelings, probably more than a lot of subhumans

    • There is no such thing as “humane slaughter”. You cannot kill an unwilling being “kindly” or “humanely”, that’s just how humans define the suffering of others in terms that provides humans comfort and not the ones violently dying.

Trillions of animals are violently butchered yearly, globally, what do you think happens when they die? Nothing good happens in a slaughterhouse.

If you honestly believe animals should live “in peace” you wouldn’t kill them/eat them, that’s just euphemizing violence inflicted on others.

I don’t know where you live, but just in the USA, 99% of ALL animals exploited for food are from CAFOs (factory farms) and ALL are EXEMPT from the (meaningless) Animal Welfare Act.

What part of killing animals could ever be considered “humane” or “peaceful”?

You don’t kill/consume animals because you honestly believe that NOT killing/NOT consuming animals is INhumane or NOT peaceful.

    • Please do not use the word ‘we’. There are lot of us who do not eat animals, so say the truth….Even though ‘I’ eat animals….

    • Please “care more”…You don’t need meat, you want it.So this is the result of meat consumption, when there is little to no demand that equates to no jobs, less animal production. Therefore, these psychos won’t get free range or pass to unleash abuse and torture on helpless animals!

  2. THIS IS A TOTAL OUTRAGE. IT’S BAD ENOUGH THAT PEOPLE AREN’T KIND ENOUGHNTO GO VEGETARIAN, BUT TO THINK THAT THOSE SCUMBAGS WILL DELIBERATELY TORTURE AND KILL THE TURKEYS ON THIS FARM. PROSECUTE THOSE RESPONSIBLE TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW.

  3. John Chambers says:

Barbarism is inexcusable in this age, of course someone should tell the Ruzis!

  4. Sadly, this is SOP in the meat and dairy industries. Yet we continue to eat animals and treat them as only a commodity! If humans would stop eating animals and their products then we wouldn’t have such an issue…plus it’s better for the planet as well as your health and the BILLIONS of food animals killed just for humans to dine on their flesh. Raising animals for food is not sustainable and is destroying this planet rather quickly! Practice compassion go vegan!

    • I so agree with you….change is hard but as humans we are failing life on this planet and we must do so much better! Farmers could still make a living growing plant based food to feed the world! So much less risk in that and God bless the animals saved!

  5. Veronique Marie Peere says:

    WE DEMAND A PROPER INVESTIGATION!
WE DEMAND THAT JUSTICE BE SERVED FOR ALL THOSE INNOCENT VICTIMS.
    NO MERCY FOR ANIMAL TORTURERS!!!

  6. Lawrence Holtzman says:

More subhuman behavior. Our society has become mentally ill. If I had an answer for the lunacy I would certainly share it. Is extermination of this sub group to severe?!!

  7. Bobbie Maiorka says:

We need a through investigation! We dont need to be sub-human to work in a factory! This is outrageous!
PLEASE investigate these people, fine them, jail them, or whatever means it takes to get these low-life out of this society!
if you cant be human….then you dont deserve a JOB!
    NO mercy for these sub-humans!

  8. Justice systems world wide had better realize WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH of all the crap humans are getting away with!!!! Humans are but one on a very large list of mammals that SHARE this planet and humans ARE THE ONLY ONES TOTALLY annihilating life and land!!!!!!
GROW A PAIR AND START PUTTNG A BIG STOP TO IT ALL !!!!

  9. Nadine brundage says:

No excuse for evil, heartless, cruel treatment of these poor animals. Bad enough they go to be slaughtered, they should be treated humanely. Whoever committed this horrific abuse needs to be fired.

  10. Nothing left to say. People disgust me and every day I read something that confirms what I think. This farm will go on and nothing will change because there are no laws harsh enough to make them. 😡

  11. I agree with you 100%

  12. I hear and read about this every year…why is this still going on. I remember reading about this in 2010. I am so sick and tired of humans-what a bunch of sick people. Horrible and sad. Something has got change. Stop eating meat is one and instead of all the stupid petty behavior of the dems and rep.-how about focusing in on our animals. Richest country in the world cant do anything about this. Disgusting.

  13. Maria Lavorat0 says:

SHUT THIS FARM DOWN..ANIMAL ABUSE SHOULD GET FELONY CHARGES!! EVERY TIME!! ENOUGH ENOUGH ENOUGH!!

    YOU HAVE THE EVIDENCE.

    STOP EATING ALL MEAT!!!

  14. Shut down Plainville Farms now!!!

  15. Earl Shumaker says:

The employees who brutally kill these turkeys need to be held responsible

  16. Melinda+Maddox says:

How the hell does this type of behavior get past the owners and upper management unless they just don’t give a damn either????? I pray these arrested people and any more the authorities can round up get the maximum sentence possible
They should never be allowed around any type of animal or pets ever again. Anyone in a authority position over these people must be held accountable also.
This is demented sick treatment period.

  17. I could not even read this entire petition describing the beating and torture of these Turkeys. What does it say when a human being with a greater force of strength in comparison to an innocent animal, feels the need to beat, torture, and kill an animal that has done nothing wrong? And how dare Plainville Farms make claims about their “humanely raised” animals living in a “stress-free environment.” Where’s the oversight? In another life, whoever commits these cruel and inhumane acts will get what they deserve.

  18. Why don’t we do the same to them!! Poor turkeys!!!!

  19. Joseph Kenosky says:

Euthanize the pieces of garbage that did this.
