Stop euthanizing wildlife for human greed!

Target: Prime Minister of Norway: Jonas Gahr Støre,

On Sunday August 14, a walrus dubbed Freya by the press and public in Norway was euthanized because of the ignorance of humans. The reasons for the walrus being put down was due to the fact that authorities thought it was becoming unsafe for humans to be around the walrus because they could not stay away, could not avoid taking pictures and could not avoid harassing the marine animal even when they were warned over and over not to do so. Then instead of fixing the true problem being created by humans, Norway decided they had the right to end this creature’s life.

With this act, Norway went into a walrus’ home kidnapped it and gave it a death penalty for simply living. We are living in a world where greed and selfishness surpass humanity, and have been living this way for far too long. We as humans think we have every right to be in the water, to cut down trees, to destroy our world, but we do not! We continue to kill everything in our path and believe it is okay because we are human, when really we are a parasite.

Instead of killing an innocent animal due to the ignorance of people not listening to warnings, close the docks. Instead of killing an innocent animal for damaging boats, require owners to move or remove their boats from the docks. Instead of killing an innocent animal for acting out when being harassed by people, protect the animal from the public. There were many different ways this could have been handled peacefully, but instead humans chose the easy, lazy way and just got rid of it. It’s so sad that humans are ignorant, greedy and selfish and unfortunately for this world to change, the change needs to start at the top where decisions like this are made. So I want you to truly think about your decision next time you want to take a life and realize that we as humans do not run this world, we are simply apart of it.

P.S. I will not ask “please” in this petition because I’m sure the walrus was thinking “please” over and over as its life was taken with no justice.
