Goats Sexually Violated: Suspected Predator Must Face Justice

Target: Shamila Batohi, National Director of Public Prosecutions, National Prosecuting Authority, Pretoria, South Africa

Goal: Seek justice for goats reportedly subjected to sexual abuse by ensuring that the arrested individual is fully prosecuted.

Disturbing video footage prompted the National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) Special Projects Unit and the South African Police Service to conduct an emergency operation. According to official reports, inspectors executed a search at a property after a video allegedly depicted the sexual abuse of livestock.

Fifteen goats were removed from the property, and forensic veterinary examinations indicated that at least three goats displayed physical findings consistent with severe sexual assault. Authorities reported that one suspect was arrested, although the control prosecutor provisionally declined to enroll the matter while investigators gathered additional forensic evidence and witness statements. The NSPCA has publicly expressed concern that delays in prosecution could compromise the integrity of the evidence.

The rescued goats remain in protective custody, where they are receiving ongoing veterinary treatment and behavioral rehabilitation. Detectives are also investigating the origin of the video to determine whether additional individuals may have allegedly participated in, recorded, or facilitated the abuse.

If the evidence establishes that the suspect subjected livestock to sexual abuse, severe punishment would be appropriate. Such conduct, if proven, would represent an extraordinary violation of animal welfare. Thorough prosecution is essential to deter similar conduct, protect vulnerable animals, and reinforce that crimes involving severe animal abuse will be treated with the utmost seriousness.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Director Batohi,

Reports surrounding this investigation have generated profound concern among animal welfare advocates. Authorities rescued fifteen goats after investigating video evidence that allegedly depicted severe abuse of livestock.

Forensic examinations identified injuries consistent with sexual assault involving several goats, and investigators alleged that the arrested suspect was responsible.

Please ensure that this investigation receives every available prosecutorial resource and that, if the evidence ultimately supports the allegations, all appropriate criminal charges are pursued. If investigators establish that the suspect subjected these animals to such extreme abuse, meaningful accountability should follow under South African law.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
