Justice for Apparently Starved Puppy Found Dead in Feces-Covered Kennel

Target: Amira Fox, State Attorney, Twentieth Judicial Circuit, Florida, USA

Goal: Pursue maximum aggravated animal cruelty penalties against individuals accused of starving an 11-month-old dog to death inside a filthy wire kennel.

A horrifying animal cruelty investigation intensified after Lee County deputies reportedly discovered an 11-month-old dog dead inside a small wire kennel during a welfare check in North Fort Myers, Florida. Authorities reportedly found the puppy curled inside a cage too small for an animal of its size, while the kennel interior was heavily covered in accumulated feces and urine.

A veterinary necropsy apparently determined that the young dog died from acute starvation and severe dehydration after being deprived of consistent food and water for weeks. Authorities arrested Neah Copeland and a co-defendant following the investigation and filed multiple aggravated animal cruelty charges connected to the reported conditions. Investigators are also examining whether additional animals may have suffered neglect at the residence.

Animal welfare advocates argue that the reported conditions demonstrate prolonged suffering inflicted upon a vulnerable young dog trapped without any ability to escape confinement or seek sustenance. The criminal case remains in its earliest stages, and no prosecution has yet occurred. If substantiated, these actions would represent severe neglect causing preventable suffering and death to a defenseless companion animal.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear State Attorney Fox,

Reports indicate that an 11-month-old dog was starved and dehydrated to death inside a feces-covered kennel too small for the animal’s body size. Investigators apparently discovered conditions suggesting prolonged deprivation of food and water.

Law enforcement officials arrested two individuals and filed aggravated animal cruelty charges connected to the reported neglect. If proven, the conduct would represent severe cruelty and prolonged suffering inflicted upon a confined and defenseless animal.

We urge your office to pursue maximum felony penalties against any individuals found responsible in this starvation and neglect case.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
