Justice for Horses Allegedly Starved Until They Ate Rocks to Survive

Target: Sonya Allen, District Attorney, Cobb Judicial Circuit, Georgia

Goal: Pursue maximum felony animal cruelty penalties against landowner allegedly responsible for starving horses until the animals resorted to eating rocks and gravel.

An alarming equine cruelty investigation intensified after Cobb County detectives allegedly discovered two horses suffering from extreme starvation and severe neglect on a private farm in Georgia. Authorities executed a search warrant after receiving reports that the horses, Sonny and Bullseye, had experienced rapid physical deterioration and visible emaciation.

Veterinary examinations revealed that Sonny had apparently lost virtually all palpable body fat because of prolonged malnutrition. Investigators additionally reported that Bullseye’s body had begun metabolizing organ fat to survive during long-term starvation. Most disturbingly, dental X-rays seemingly showed the horses’ teeth worn down to the gums after the animals resorted to eating rocks and gravel in desperate attempts to obtain nutrients. Authorities also say they documented split and severely overgrown hooves causing the horses pain while standing and walking.

The owner was arrested and now faces felony cruelty and neglect charges while the rescued horses continue receiving rehabilitation care at a specialized equine facility. The case remains in the pretrial discovery phase, and no prosecution has yet occurred. If substantiated, these allegations would represent prolonged suffering and severe neglect inflicted upon vulnerable animals.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear DA Allen,

Authorities have made allegations of two horses allegedly starved so severely that the animals resorted to eating rocks and gravel to survive. Veterinary examinations documented extreme emaciation and painful hoof deterioration.

Law enforcement officials arrested one individual and filed felony cruelty charges connected to the reported neglect. If proven, the alleged conduct would represent prolonged suffering and severe deprivation inflicted upon defenseless horses.

We urge your office to pursue maximum felony penalties against any individuals found responsible for this alleged equine cruelty case.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
