Dogs, Pigs, and Birds Allegedly Abused at Rescue Shelter Deserve Justice

Target: Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr

Goal: Prosecute the director of the animal rescue shelter allegedly responsible for neglecting and abusing animals under her care.

An animal rescue shelter in Pembroke, Georgia, is under intense scrutiny after animals were allegedly found living in poor and neglectful conditions. The director of Georgia Animal Rescue and Defense (GARD), Joy Bahannon, was arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals. Despite being meant to protect and care for animals, the shelter allegedly became a site of suffering for countless innocent creatures.

Animal welfare organizations and volunteers have reportedly stepped in to rescue animals from the shelter, finding them in dire need of medical attention and proper care. Over 50 pigs, nearly 100 dogs, and several birds were allegedly saved from the facility, highlighting the severity of the situation. Concerns have been raised about the shelter’s conditions since 2021, but adequate action has apparently not been taken until now.

Those allegedly responsible for this neglect must be held accountable to prevent future animal harm. Legal action against the director will provide justice for the suffering animals and serve as a deterrent to others who might neglect their duty of care. Prosecute the director to the fullest extent of the law to ensure that no more animals endure such apparent hardship.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear AG Carr,

We are deeply concerned about the recent allegations of severe animal neglect and abuse at the Georgia Animal Rescue and Defense (GARD) in Pembroke. Animals entrusted to this shelter for care and protection were allegedly found in poor conditions, leading to charges of aggravated cruelty against the director, Joy Bahannon. This situation is both alarming and heartbreaking, as the very place meant to safeguard animals became a source of their suffering.

Multiple animal welfare organizations have reportedly rescued numerous animals from GARD, many requiring immediate medical attention. The alleged neglect not only caused immense pain to these innocent creatures but also betrayed the trust of the community that supports and relies on such shelters.

We urge you to prosecute the director allegedly responsible for this neglect and abuse to the fullest extent of the law. Taking decisive legal action will send a clear message that animal cruelty is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. It is crucial to ensure justice for these animals and prevent future neglect occurrences in our community.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
