Target: John Quigley, Attorney General of Western Australia
Goal: Advocate for harsher penalties for animal abusers, after dog was found with untreated open wounds.
A three-year-old American Staffordshire bull terrier named Blaze was found in a distressing state, suffering from open wounds on his back, neck, shoulders, and head. These severe injuries had apparently been left untreated for up to two weeks. Found without food or water, Blaze’s condition highlights a deeply troubling case of animal neglect.
Authorities intervened after reports surfaced, and while the exact cause of Blaze’s injuries remains unknown, his owner was prosecuted and convicted. The owner received a fine and a five-year ban from owning animals. However, concerns have been raised about whether this penalty is sufficient given the severity of the neglect Blaze endured.
To prevent future instances of such cruelty, it is imperative to impose harsher penalties and consider lifetime bans for individuals reportedly responsible for severe animal neglect. Stronger legal actions will serve as a deterrent and demonstrate a commitment to protecting vulnerable animals. Demand that authorities review and strengthen animal welfare laws to ensure justice for animals like Blaze.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear John Quigley,
We are deeply concerned about the reported case of severe animal neglect involving a dog named Blaze, who was found with untreated open wounds and deprived of food and water. The distressing condition in which Blaze was discovered underscores significant gaps in the enforcement of animal welfare laws.
While the individual responsible was convicted and received a fine along with a five-year ban from owning animals, we believe these penalties do not adequately reflect the severity of the neglect. Cases of extreme cruelty warrant harsher legal consequences to prevent future occurrences and protect vulnerable animals from suffering.
We urge you to advocate for stronger penalties, including lifetime bans from owning animals, for those responsible for severe animal neglect. By strengthening the legal framework, we can send a clear message that such cruelty will not be tolerated and ensure justice for animals like Blaze. Please consider taking action to enhance the protection of animals in our community.
Sincerely,

This isn’t justice for Blaze, it’s an insult! Why are countries so afraid to punish when things such as this are done to animals? Blaze was probably beaten. The wounds were never treated, then the dog was denied both food and water. That caused unfathomable suffering for Blaze. The suffering to this dog was done deliberately. How dare anyone do this to another living, breathing, being! Your justice system is BS! The man responsible needs to serve time in prison but more importantly he needs to be hurt and his wounds not addressed. Throw salt on the wounds. Don’t feed him more than once a day and give only enough water to sustain his lousy body. The ban on him need to be life long so he can never own, work with or be around animals for the entire time he lives. What a POS!
Absolutely pathetic sentence. The judge must be into animal abuse as well, no other explanation! Crazy!
