Demand Justice for Dog Allegedly Tied to Motorcycle and Forced to Run

Target: Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, India

Goal: Ensure that the individual allegedly responsible for the abuse of a Pomeranian dog named Happy faces appropriate legal consequences for violating animal protection laws.

A heart-wrenching case of alleged animal cruelty recently emerged in Wadgaon Sheri, Pune of India’s Maharashtra, where a Pomeranian dog named Happy was reportedly tied to the back of a motorcycle and forced to run along a highway in extreme heat. This allegedly cruel act, which occurred around 11:30 am, was witnessed by local resident Rahul Mourya, who immediately intervened to save the distressed animal. Upon his intervention, it became clear that Happy had allegedly sustained severe injuries, including a leg injury from being dragged and multiple areas of missing fur. Furthermore, the dog was allegedly suffering from infections in both the ear and stomach, indicating prolonged mistreatment.

Mourya promptly reported the incident to Pooja Rathore from the Aham Premah Foundation and the Lonikand police station. Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad acted swiftly, ensuring Happy was taken into custody for immediate care. The motorcyclist reportedly responsible for this inhumane treatment was apparently found to be heavily intoxicated and unable to provide a coherent explanation for his actions. This alleged behavior constitutes a clear violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, which mandates the protection of animals from cruelty and abuse.

This case underscores the urgent need for strong legal measures against those who commit such acts of cruelty. It is vital that the Commissioner of Police, Pune, ensures thorough investigation and prosecution under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, to bring justice for Happy. Take action to serve as a deterrent against future mistreatment of animals.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear CM Eknath Shinde,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding a recent case of alleged animal cruelty involving a Pomeranian dog named Happy in Wadgaon Sheri. According to reports, the dog was tied to the back of a motorcycle and forced to run along a highway under the scorching sun. This allegedly cruel act left Happy with severe injuries, including a leg injury from being dragged, missing fur, and infections in both the ear and stomach.

The individual allegedly responsible for this inhumane treatment was reportedly found to be heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident and could not provide a coherent explanation for his actions. Such alleged behavior is a blatant violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, which aims to protect animals from abuse and ensure their welfare.

I urge you to take immediate and decisive action to investigate this incident and ensure that the person allegedly responsible is held accountable under the law. By prosecuting this case to the fullest extent, you will demonstrate a commitment to upholding animal welfare laws and preventing future acts of cruelty. It is essential that we protect the rights and well-being of all animals and ensure that justice is served for Happy.

  1. Thank goodness the bystander witnessing the abuse actually stepped in stopping the motorcyclist and rescuing the dog. Without that person intervening, the dog probably would have died and the POS abuser not been caught. I hope that scum who tied that tiny dog to his motorcycle will face harsh justice, like maybe his face dragged along a scorching hot highway. And that Happy recovers and finds a good forever home.
