Justice for Hunting Dogs Allegedly Shot to Death

Target: Bruce Andrew Helling, State Attorney of Union County, Florida

Goal: Ensure legal consequences for the individual allegedly responsible for the cruel shooting of three hunting dogs.

On a seemingly peaceful day at Piney Bay Hunt Club near Raiford, Florida, tragedy struck. Reportedly, three hunting dogs became victims of a heinous act. Allegedly, while these dogs were chasing deer, Lance Thornton, from a neighboring property, shot them, leading to the death of two and injuring one. This appalling incident has stirred up the community, calling for justice and accountability.

Further investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission led to Thornton’s arrest on multiple counts of felony animal cruelty and evidence tampering. A family member of the dogs’ owner described the horror of the situation, highlighting the emotional distress caused by this alleged act. The community’s shock at this alleged cruelty underscores the need for a rigorous response to such offenses.

This petition demands the State Attorney of Union County take decisive action. The alleged actions of Thornton not only display a blatant disregard for animal welfare but also raise serious concerns about community safety. Urge a thorough prosecution, ensuring that such alleged cruelty faces appropriate legal consequences.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Bruce Andrew Helling,

I write to you today as a concerned citizen, deeply disturbed by the alleged animal cruelty incident in our community. On a day at Piney Bay Hunt Club, three hunting dogs reportedly fell victim to a shocking act of violence. Allegedly, Lance Thornton, from his adjacent property, shot these dogs, killing two and injuring another. Such actions, if true, represent a gross violation of animal rights and societal norms.

The investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, leading to Thornton’s arrest, highlights the gravity of the alleged crimes. This incident has not only caused immense suffering to the animals but has also deeply affected the dogs’ family and the larger community. It is crucial that our legal system responds firmly to such alleged acts of cruelty to prevent future occurrences and to maintain public trust in our justice system.

Therefore, I urge you to ensure that this case receives the attention it deserves. If these allegations prove true, it is imperative that Thornton faces the full extent of legal consequences for his actions. By doing so, you will send a clear message that animal cruelty is unacceptable and will be met with stern legal action.

Sincerely,

  1. Shoot the sick individual that killed these dogs

  2. Florida is a state in deep distress. So many horrors come out of Florida. This man decided he would shoot 3 dogs? Not his dogs, his kids but lives belonging to others. Yes the family is devastated and the community yet this goes on and on and on.
This man is accountable and needs to face the law. Yet the laws are a joke and implementation of the laws an even a bigger joke. Must of us obey the laws as laws protect society but not if they are not enforced. Is anyone listening?

    • Ron DeSantis land, go figure.
Trump and MAGA will turn America into Florida as all of the extreme right wing republicans are all the same yet different in equally disgusting/disturbing and sickening
ways. They view animals as only an avenue for profits, or they do not care what happens to them as demonstrated in the laws or lack there of of sincere and strong humane laws passed in their state legislature.

Although, I don’t condone the use of dogs for chasing deer because of the fact that the dogs don’t quit until the job is done. A lot of dogs are lost for days, their tracking device batteries die, they are left to fend for themselves, and some get hit by cars while trying to find their way home. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen dead hunting dogs dead or lost. Most are too skittish to be rescued and run away from a helpful person.

But, the actions of this individual are appalling and uncalled for. He deserves the maximum penalty for his crimes. Killing innocent dogs for doing the job that they were trained to do is disgusting and cruel.
