Justice for Greyhounds Lost and Injured in Reported Racing Tragedy

Target: Guy Barnett, Attorney General of Tasmania

Goal: Initiate legal proceedings against individuals reportedly responsible for the greyhound racing tragedies.

In Tasmania, greyhound racing has seemingly turned into a grim spectacle of animal suffering and death. Recent events at Tasmanian tracks have apparently brought this to light, with two greyhounds, Where’s Lily and Sin Wrap Comet, losing their lives and two others, Kylian and Fawn Shadow, sustaining grave injuries. This chilling sequence of events within a mere week starkly highlights the inherent dangers these animals reportedly face.

These tragedies aren’t isolated incidents but part of a disturbing pattern in the greyhound racing industry. The death of Buckle Up Adalyn in August, also reportedly due to track injuries, further underscores the urgent need for intervention. Greyhounds are subjected to intense and seemingly perilous racing conditions, with serious injuries often proving fatal. The losses of Where’s Lily and Sin Wrap Comet, as well as the suffering of Kylian and Fawn Shadow, apparently exemplify the brutal reality of this sport.

This petition demands immediate legal action against those reportedly responsible for the mistreatment and endangerment of greyhounds in Tasmania. The recurrent nature of these incidents indicates a systemic issue within the greyhound racing industry. Legal accountability is imperative to prevent further harm and ensure the safety and welfare of these animals. We call on the Attorney General of Tasmania to take decisive action in this regard.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Guy Barnett,

Recent events in Tasmania’s greyhound racing tracks have cast a dark shadow over the industry, reportedly revealing a disturbing trend of animal suffering and death. The deaths of Where’s Lily and Sin Wrap Comet, coupled with the serious injuries sustained by Kylian and Fawn Shadow, demand immediate attention and action. These incidents are not anomalies but symptomatic of the broader risks and apparent maltreatment greyhounds endure in this industry.

The loss of Buckle Up Adalyn in August, alongside the recent casualties and injuries, lays bare the seemingly hazardous conditions these animals are subjected to. These repeated tragedies highlight the need for stringent oversight and legal intervention. The alleged neglect and endangerment of greyhounds in this industry require thorough investigation and appropriate legal measures against those found responsible.

This petition urgently calls for your intervention. We implore you to initiate legal proceedings against individuals implicated in the mistreatment and endangerment of greyhounds in Tasmanian racing. It is essential to establish accountability within the industry to safeguard the welfare of these animals and prevent further tragedies.

Sincerely,

These are the very reasons dog racing should be outlawed. There is tremendous harm to the dogs health every time there is a race, also to their everyday health, as to what they are fed, the drugs they are given, legal or not, how they are treated, and where is the love? Where is the care for their general welfare? They are just a money making machine as far as anyone involved is concerned, and that is not what they were born to do. They were born to enjoy being a dog, to run when they feel like it, to live with caretakers that really love and care for them, and care about their needs. Time to end dog racing forever. Not to care about the ones that want to make a buck betting on their very lives.
