Protect Great White Sharks From Overfishing

Target: Mr. Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia

Goal: Advocate for increased protections for the great white shark by regulating commercial fishing practices.

The great white shark is a majestic and iconic species that is vital to the health of marine ecosystems around the world, including in Australia. Unfortunately, the great white shark is facing numerous threats, including overfishing and accidental capture, known as ‘bycatch,’ which are driving its populations to dangerously low levels. Without immediate action, the great white shark could become extinct in the near future, which would have significant ecological and economic impacts on Australia and the world.

To protect the great white shark, we need to regulate commercial fishing practices to reduce bycatch and overfishing. We also need to implement measures to reduce human-shark conflict, such as public education and outreach. Finally, we need to support scientific research and monitoring to better understand the needs of the great white shark and its habitat.

Through regulated fishing practices, public education, and scientific research and monitoring, we can protect the great white shark and its habitat.

Sign below and demand Prime Minister Albanese take action and support these efforts.
