Protect Snow Geese and Their Fragile Ecosystem by Banning Sport Hunting

Target: Ms. Martha Williams, Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

Goal: Ban the hunting of snow geese for sport to protect migratory bird populations and maintain healthy ecosystems.

The hunting of snow geese for sport has become a serious threat to migratory bird populations and ecosystems. Hunters kill these birds in large numbers, far exceeding sustainable levels, and disrupt their migratory patterns, leading to imbalances in ecosystems that can have far-reaching consequences.

In addition, the use of lead ammunition in hunting can lead to lead poisoning in wildlife and pose a health risk to humans who consume the meat. This practice not only harms the environment but also threatens public health.

It is imperative that immediate action be taken to ban the hunting of snow geese for sport in order to protect migratory bird populations and maintain healthy ecosystems. This requires a strong regulatory framework, enforcement of existing laws, and public education and awareness-raising initiatives.

By banning the hunting of snow geese for sport, promoting sustainable wildlife management, and utilizing effective regulation, enforcement, and education we can protect migratory bird populations and maintain healthy ecosystems.

Sign below and demand that Ms. Williams take action and support these efforts.

  1. Ms. Williams, you are a trophy hunter yourself thus you above others should understand the disadvantage to overhunting Snow Geese. This harms not only this species but others as well. Nature made everything dependent on everything else. Also the fact that ammunition is made from lead which is killing off eagles and many others. This is a huge problem. The ignorant hunters are killing too many geese and using lead which kills so many more species just by the use of lead which leaches into food and water animals need. Hunting is a privilege but it is a great responsibility as well. Hunting licenses need to classify hunters so all know the rules. Thank you.
