Success: Major Biden Gets Another Chance After Biting Incident

Target: Joe Biden, President of the United States of America

Goal: Thank Joe Biden for not giving up on his dog.

Last month, President Biden’s German shepherd Major had a biting incident with White House staff that required the victim to be seen by a doctor. Soon after, Major and Biden’s older dog Champ were moved to the Bidens’ Wilmington, Delaware, house.

Due to this biting confrontation, Major was threatened with return to the shelter, but the Bidens decided to keep their dog. Less than three weeks later, however, Major had bitten another White House worker with unknown consequences for the animal.

As a rescue dog, severe punishment of Major for this behavior could negatively impact all rescue animals. It is important to protect the people involved, but how this issue is managed could have harmful consequences on how rescue dogs are viewed across the country.

Fortunately, Biden arranged private training, thanks to petitions like this one on ForceChange, for the three-year-old German shepherd that is conducted not at the White House but in the Washington area. The training is predicted to last a couple of weeks.

Sign this petition to thank Joe Biden for not losing faith in his dog.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Biden,

I want to thank you for initiating training sessions for your dog Major, after the biting incidents that traveled over the news. A vast part of the population is happy to see that you did not give up on your dog.

As a rescue dog, Major could be seen as a role model for other shelter animals. It is important to inform the public that adopting is a rewarding experience, and negative events should not be publicly exaggerated. I appreciate that you value your dog Major as a friend and companion and that you try to help him overcome his fear of his new situation.

Sincerely,

FROM THE DOCTOR WHERE THE POLICEMAN WENT TO CHECK IF MY SADIE DOESNT HAVE ANY DECEASE I STILL HAVE TO PAY $225.OO WHICH IS NOT EASY ON A SMALL SOCIAL SECURITY CHECK. WELL, IT IS OK BUT DONT ASK ME TO BELIEVE ON JUSTICE!!!!

Thank you to the Bidens for NOT returning Major to the shelter, for working with him to address his issues. Shelter animals are the best!!! But many come from abusive and/or neglectful situations, or were abandoned, so they have issues. All issues can and should be considered and dealt with in a kind and compassionate way.

  5. I do not have to sign a petition like this. He was NEVER going to give up on him.
