“It is with a very heavy heart and tears in my eyes that I have to say this angel from Heaven crossed the Rainbow Bridge.” These words, written on the Washington County, TN Animal Shelter’s Facebook page, announced the unfortunate death of a cat that had reportedly been abused by his owner. Phoenix was playing with a Christmas tree when, as punishment, 24-year-old Aaron Duke Rover reportedly attacked and struck him to the point of near death. He was brought to the animal shelter, where Rover allegedly lied about the circumstances of his injury. Video evidence, given to authorities by Rover’s fiancé, apparently documented the attack.
Rover has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty. Sign below and demand that he receive the maximum penalty possible, if convicted.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear District Attorney Baldwin,
A cat was reportedly struck repeatedly as punishment for playing with a Christmas tree. The suspect, identified as Aaron Duke Rover, apparently brought Phoenix to an animal shelter under the guise that he found him injured outside. Video evidence, provided by Rover’s fiancé, seemingly showed Rover maliciously abusing and attacking the cat. Phoenix reportedly suffered serious injuries and later died while in the care of veterinarians.
Rover has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty, which is now a federal crime punishable by jail time. The country has put its foot down regarding letting abusers go unpunished and Washington County must follow suit. I demand that you prosecute this case and seek the maximum penalty possible for the person found guilty.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
