Elephants will no longer suffer under the guise of sport, thanks to IBM and other businesses. Thailand has effectively ended elephant polo following IBM’s decision to withdraw financial support. Praise IBM for its dedication to ending animal cruelty.
IBM withdrew its sponsorship of the King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament, detailed in this ForceChange petition, after an undercover investigation revealed the physical tortures endured by the elephants. The video exposé, done by PETA Asia, showed elephants beaten and neglected in the name of sport. IBM, and dozens of other businesses, viewed this footage and chose to take a stand. The cancellation of this tournament brings an end to elephant polo in Thailand and relief for these majestic animals.

I’m happy about this but the sad reality is that they will come up with another way to torment these great animals. Humans are cruel, greedy, heartless creatures.
