A thorough veterinary exam showed that the dog, named Gus by rescuers, had been shot 15 times with a pellet gun and he had a shoelace tied tightly around his neck. The shoelace caused a serious wound to Gus’ neck and damaged his trachea and organs.

Gus has undergone several surgeries at the Texas A&M Small Animal Clinic and he is expected to recover. Houston K-911, a local rescue, is caring for Gus throughout his treatment.
