Target: W.H. “Skip” Holbrook, Chief of Columbia Police Department in South Carolina
Goal: Fire and arrest the police officer who reportedly left his police dog in a hot car for more than six hours.
A police dog in South Carolina was found dead after reportedly being left in a police car for more than six hours. According to Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook, the dog’s handler was suspended for five days without pay. This is not enough. The Labrador retriever mix named Turbo was only 22 months old and was allegedly left inside the car on a day that was 94 degrees.
According to other handlers, this man did not return to check on the dog at all during the six hours. When the officer returned, it was too late. Turbo allegedly had white foam around his mouth and died from organ failure two days later. This type of neglect cannot go unpunished. Turbo deserves better. Sign this petition and demand the officer reportedly involved is fired from the police department and then arrested.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Chief Holbrook,
A police dog named Turbo died because of the alleged neglect of one of your K9 handlers, David Hurt. Turbo was only 22 months old and he was reportedly left to die in a hot police car. According to other handlers, the officer did not return to Turbo during the duration of the six hours to feed him, give him water, or let him go to the bathroom. Currently, the handler is suspended for five days. However, this is not enough. We demand Hurt is fired and then arrested for his alleged lack of care for Turbo’s life.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]

He must be fired!!! He’s probably the type of cop that talks out of his ass””” he must be prosecuted…
Total negligence. This poor dog suffered for 6 hours. Does this officer have brains to think with? We can’t take away the suffering Turbo went through but personally I would like done to the officer what he did to Turbo but I’m sure the courts would think too cruel….so just fire him.
WHAT THE FUCK?!!!!!! THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WE CALL WHEN WE SEE A DOG LEFT IN A CAR WHEN THE WEATHER IS TOO HOT OR TOO COLD AND WE AS NON-LAW OFFICERS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BREAK INTO A CAR UNTIL WE HAVE CALLED THE POLICE. AND THIS IMBECILE LEFT HIS “PARTNER” IN THE CAR FOR SIX HOURS???!!!!!
JUST TODAY IN I CALLED THE POLICE AS A DOG WAS SITTING IN A HOT CAR. THEY CAME AND FOUND THE OWNER WHO WILL PROBABLY GET A SUMMONS AND HAVE TO APPEAR IN COURT. SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST IGNORANT OF THE DANGERS AND NEED A WAKE-UP CALL AND WILL PROBABLY NOT DO IT AGAIN. BUT A POLICE OFFICER…..???
He’s a policeman for God’s sake – he represents the people we rely on to rescue animals from this very predicament. This is utter neglect. Fire the rotten BASTARD & charge him!!!
He should be arrested n than be left in a hot car for 6 hours n actually know n feel what that poor dog went through.
Anyone stupid n forgetful as that idiot doesn’t belong out in the street w/a fun no less.
He’s not protecting anything or anyone..
There is not a comparable punishment to fit this crime, without committing murder, and that is exactly what this individual did.
Firing him is not enough! He should be jailed, charged and convicted of murder.
THIS COP SHOULD DEFINITELY BE FIRED NO EXCEPTIONS! HE KILLED THIS DOG! THERE’S ONE PLACE AND ONLY ONE PLACE FOR THIS COP AND THAT’S PRISON! HE’S A PIECE OF SHIT FOR LETTING THIS HAPPEN TO THIS DOG! MAYBE SOMEONE SHOULD LEAVE HIM IN A 96 DEGREE CAR FOR 6 HOURS WITH THE WINDOWS UP AND THE DOORS LOCKED! I (HATE) ANYONE WHO ABUSES OR KILLS AN ANIMAL. ? PEOPLE LIKE THIS DO NOT DESERVE TO LIVE!!!!!
AN EYE FOR AN EYE! TIE UP THIS COP IN A 98 DEGREE CAR AND LEAVE HIM THERE UNTIL HE DIES!!!
You can tell this sorry-ass doesn’t give a damn about animals!
He’s a cop nothing will happen to him.
Well, ya see, dan in Sath Kara-lina, dawgs is jes conmsidrd ta bee a peece o’property, an if’n he dies, it ain’t no big deal, ya see?
No excuses for this irresponsible horrific action and I can’t imagine how agonizing the suffering was for that poor innocent dog. I think the man needs to suffer the same consequences.
It doesn’t matter who you are, neglect is neglect. He should be prosecuted like anyone else would be.
Of all people this so called cop should have known better it’s preached enough to not leave any pet or child in the cars what the hell is wrong with the laws down there to let this neglectful creep get away with this what are they going to do give him another dog to murder these are highly trained dogs I guess the idiots they have handling them are not I don’t know how other canine officers could even have anything to do with him he ought yo jailed the poor dog to suffer so RIP
this so called cop should be in jail for what he did to this poor dog what the hell kind of laws have they got down if any to let him away with this cruelty what are they going to do give him another dog to murder may the dog RIP
It’s plain and simple let’s call it what it is Animal Abuse! Now it’s his turn to be handcuffed and booked. No one is above the LAW!
No excuse, he murdered that poor dog, neglect is a terrible crime, he knew what he was doing, to leave a dog locked in a hot tin can, for 6 hours, is deliberate. Maybe he didnt like this poor dog, because he sure didn’t care for it. How many times had he done this before.??? He murdered police property, and should be fired, jailed 2 years, and loose all rights to a pension. Name and shame. The bastard. R.I.P. Poor doggie.
W.H. “Skip” Holbrook, Chief of Columbia Police Department in South Carolina
Fire and arrest the vile nd evil heartles police officer who reportedly left this precious and innocent police dog in a hot car for more than six hours where he died a horrible death because of this monster Skip Holbrook.

His low punishment is unbelievable and must be jailed for his heartless and uncaring concern for this precious and innocent dog named Turbo. This monster of a Cop ended 22 month old Turbos life so cruelly and must be punished severely for his sadism and evilness. This monster is suppose to be a Cop. He is an animal torturing lowlife arsehole of a Cop and should be left in a locked car in the high temperature heat like this monster left precious and innocent Turbo. He must be sacked and made to suffer in agony the same as innocent Turbo.
RIP Turbo. This monster of a Cop who took your precious young life away from you will suffer the vilest of suffering.
Turbo you have crossed the Rainbow Bridge into Animal Heaven where you can fly high. Bless you.
Fuck the pig, leave him in a hot car until he dies
He should have known better he’s a cop & he’s supposed to be here to protect and serve not neglect & kill animals! Would he have left a child in the hot car like that? He’s supposed to be setting a good example not showing people this is OK to do! he needs to have charges pressed again him & fired!
He’s certainly not fit for purpose and should be banned for life from ever owning or working with animals. What a rotten, irresponsible individual, do you really want people like this as law enforcers?
So bad. He’d got to understand much better than anyone else, leaving animals in a car could harm them in any possible way. Making it worse was the extremely hot weather. What a torture, what a painful condition for Turbo. He was a hero, helped people without asking pay back. He was one of rhe sweetest companions. I don’t know about the cop,he could be sorry or not. But it’d happened. So bad. So sad.
A 5 day suspension is laughable for this unforgivable irresponsibility! Nothing will bring the dog back but a meaningful punishment or suspension might stop any future ”forgetfulness”. This person must never be allowed the privilege of working with dogs again.
