Target: Jefferson County, Colorado local government
Goal: Stop the cruel “coleadero” event in which bulls experience broken or dismembered tails.
A coleadero, also known as steer tailing, is an event in which a bull is tortured and pulled by his tail until he rams into the ground. Jefferson County is one of the only locations in the United States that has hosted a coleadero and it sounds like another one may occur if steps aren’t taken now to ban the practice. Animal suffering should never be considered a form of entertainment. It is time to permanently stop this unnecessary cruelty by passing a law banning this sick practice.
During the event, a man on horseback chases a bull while he twists and distorts the bull’s tail to try to force the animal into the ground. The bull’s tail often breaks and sometimes is even dismembered. The bulls are not the only ones in danger during this event. Horses often get injured due to the high chances of painful collisions and getting bucked by the bull. The animals are often left to suffer with no form of veterinary care.
Sign this petition to demand that Jefferson County pass a law to permanently ban this cruel event. This event shows some of the ugliest sides of humanity, and it is time to stop abusing animals for entertainment.

Dear Officials,
A coleadero has taken place in your county and may occur again soon. During a coleadero, a man on horseback chases and terrorizes a scared bull. The cowboy will yank, twist and distort the bull’s tail until the bull runs himself into the ground. The tail often breaks and sometimes is even dismembered. This is animal cruelty.
Please put an end to this cruel event by passing an ordinance banning the practice. Animal suffering should not be considered entertainment, and it is time to stop this unnecessary cruelty.

Are you freaking kidding me . This is what you call enjoyment and entertainment for the people . People that go to watch these stupid shows are just as guilty as the people pulling of tales of these poor animals. . I can’t believe this is what the world is coming to. People think that Cowboys are strong but now hearing something like this you people are sick and your weak.
These are charro events, not associated with the American cowboy, please do not confuse the two. More and more American cowboys are getting on board with safe, humane, and low stress animal handling practices. They are being educated and are very receptive to the fact that animals raised to provide nutrition for our country and many others deserve to be treated kind and with respect, for their entire lives. I do respect the horsemanshipskills derived from this culture, but it’s a different time and in my opinion there is no practical use for these techniques now days. Events like this just put anyone in the livestock business under fire. I understand that in the old days, these techniques were useful to catch and doctor or mark Cattle but those times are long gone, this is no longer the wild west.
It’s called “cultural diversity”,people. The US has imported millions of people for whom dog fighting, cock fighting and bull fighting is legitimate part of the culture and now everyone is up in arms! I keep being told I have to respect and except other cultures and this is part of it. Suck it up.

What disgusting people. Hard to believe such cruelty is allowed to happen in the US. How do they get away with it. Our animals cruelty laws are sadly lacking. Anyone who promotes or attends such horrible events deserved similar treatment. Why not do the same to them and pull their “tail” off. This is not a sport. It is not entertainment.
