Don’t Beat and Abuse Buffaloes to Make Them Race in Violent Spectacles

Target: Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister of Karnataka, India

Goal: End buffalo racing events involving animals allegedly beaten, yanked by nose ropes, and forced into stressful races.

Disturbing reports have emerged regarding buffalo racing events in which animals are subjected to harsh treatment in the name of entertainment. According to materials submitted by animal welfare investigators, buffaloes used in these races are struck with wooden sticks, violently yanked by nose ropes pierced through their nasal septum, and forced to run in chaotic environments. Investigators reportedly observed animals collapsing, struggling to breathe, and showing visible wounds during certain events.

Reports further indicate that some buffaloes were transported long distances and compelled to run on extended race tracks during large-scale racing events. Observers noted animals frothing at the mouth, which may indicate severe exhaustion or heat stress. Evidence also suggested that some animals bore open marks that may have resulted from repeated striking during races.

If the evidence substantiates these allegations, authorities must take decisive action to prevent further cruelty and ensure that existing animal protection laws are properly enforced.

PETITION LETTER:

CM Siddaramaiah,

We write to express grave concern regarding reports that buffaloes used in certain racing events are subjected to violent handling and extreme stress. According to investigative materials submitted by animal welfare organizations, animals may be struck with sticks, violently yanked by nose ropes, and forced to race in loud and crowded environments.

Reports also indicate that some buffaloes collapsed, struggled to breathe, or displayed visible wounds during these events. Observers documented animals frothing at the mouth and showing signs that may indicate exhaustion or distress.

We respectfully urge your office to carefully review the evidence reportedly submitted and to take immediate action to end such events if these allegations are substantiated. Strong enforcement of animal protection laws is essential to ensure that animals are protected from cruelty and exploitation.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
