Target: Toronto Crown Attorney’s Office, Toronto, Ontario
Goal: Pursue the strongest criminal penalties after a dog was allegedly threatened, terrorized on livestream and deemed unsafe to return.
Reports describe a deeply disturbing case in which a livestreaming content creator subjected his dog to repeated verbal threats and aggressive behaviour during live broadcasts. As reported, multiple videos circulated online appeared to show the dog being yelled at while the owner threatened to kill her, including a statement about snapping her neck. The footage reportedly triggered widespread outrage and formal complaints to animal welfare authorities.
The creator was later arrested after authorities reviewed the alleged conduct shown in the videos. Criminal charges were laid, including uttering threats against an animal and wilfully causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury. A tribunal reviewing the case allegedly concluded that video evidence demonstrated the use of force against the dog and ruled that she must remain out of her owner’s control, with ongoing care costs imposed.
Veterinary testimony reportedly described the dog showing clear signs of fear and psychological distress, including cowering, crouching and pinned-back ears when approached. Such indicators suggest sustained emotional harm, not a single isolated incident. Sign below to demand meaningful prosecution to affirm that alleged cruelty for online attention carries real consequences and that animals used in digital content are protected from harm.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Toronto Crown Attorney’s Office.
The undersigned are writing regarding a case in which a dog was reportedly subjected to threatening and abusive behaviour during livestreams viewed by thousands. As reported, videos showed the owner yelling at the dog and making explicit threats to kill her, behaviour that later formed the basis of criminal charges and tribunal findings.
Evidence presented to authorities reportedly included veterinary testimony describing significant psychological distress in the dog, alongside video footage that allegedly demonstrated force and intimidation. A tribunal has already ruled that the dog should not be returned, recognising the risk posed by the reported pattern of behaviour.
We urge your office to pursue this matter with the full seriousness it deserves. Please seek the maximum penalties available under the law so that alleged acts of cruelty and terror inflicted for online content are met with accountability, deterrence and justice for the animal who reportedly suffered.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
