Seek Justice for Dog Reportedly Found Severely Injured and Hospitalized

Target: Matthew Wareham, District Attorney for Craven County, North Carolina

Goal: Seek the maximum legally allowed penalties and a long-term animal ownership ban for the individual who allegedly left a dog severely injured and then kept additional dogs despite a court order.

Authorities reportedly found a severely injured dog, later named Mixtape, during an animal welfare check. The dog allegedly needed immediate hospitalization for extensive injuries. Officers then executed a search warrant and seized all dogs at the residence linked to the case. After that operation, the suspect turned himself in on felony animal cruelty charges.

Weeks later, officials confirmed a court order prohibiting possession of animals during the case. Officers then purportedly found five more dogs in the suspect’s possession at a listed city residence. Those animals were seized under the order, and the suspect is now being held without bond for the alleged violation.

Allegations of extreme neglect followed by an apparent violation of a no-animal-possession order signal a serious threat to animal welfare. Robust prosecution can deter future abuse, protect vulnerable animals, and uphold community safety. This petition urges the District Attorney to pursue the maximum penalties permitted by law, to request mandatory counseling, and to seek a lengthy ban on animal ownership.

PETITION LETTER:

District Attorney Wareham,

Reports indicate that officers discovered a severely injured dog, named Mixtape, who required immediate hospitalization after an animal welfare check. A court-authorized search then led to the seizure of all dogs found at the residence tied to this investigation. Following these events, the suspect surrendered on felony animal cruelty charges.

Officials later confirmed that a court order barred the suspect from possessing animals during the case. Despite this, officers purportedly found five additional dogs at a listed residence. Those animals were seized under the order, and the suspect is now held without bond for the alleged violation.

We respectfully urge your office to pursue the maximum penalties available under North Carolina law. Please request a lengthy prohibition on animal ownership, court-mandated counseling, and any restitution deemed appropriate. A strong response to these allegations can help prevent further suffering and affirm that reported cruelty and apparent defiance of a court order carry serious consequences.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
